Driving cross country in a Viper!

I have routinely traveled to Minnesota and Colorado and Washington from Montana in the Viper. These are generally 2500 mile round trips. The only thing you might want to watch for is spring and fall weather, which can leave you unexpectedly snow bound for a few days out in the mtn west. My...

    Insurance

No Tickets or accidents this past year. I just got nailed for $1145 for full coverage. Last year it was $780 from the same company... (Progressive). Now I know where they got their name.

Anyone have a favorite plug wire?

My Magnacore 10mm wires have been on my 650R for over 42K miles. I run Tube headers w/o heat shields so the wires are subjected to plenty of heat. Still the wires and boots show no deterioration. Magnacore has a great guarantee. They claim to replace a failed Magnacore wire for free.

Does anyone know of a 333 gear that is available?

I bought my 3:33 gears through the Parts Rack. Unitrax "cryo" treated gears. Not sure if he can still get them. Give Jon B a call.

Fuel Cell for long term use

Definitely safe. Looks cool? Takes up room otherwise used for things like a spare tire etc. Expensive. Unless you are racing and required to have one, why would you? Most race sanctions require that the cells be changed out every (5?) years of the certification date, like safety harnesses. Just...

    Anyone using water wetter?

I have used it for years. Again, about 10 degree F drop is about average. Use with a 50/50 antifreeze fill.

    Sebring 12 hrs.

Well, it ain't like the old days. Only one Viper GTS-R showed for a 32nd place with 121 laps completed. The car driven by Weikardt/Belloc/Allen held on though. Not bad for a "vintage" car. What is the GTS-R design age now, about 7 or 8 years old? Come on DC, it's time. It should be mentioned...

    Anyone use Leatherique?

www.lexol.com Used the stuff (Lexol) for years with good results. Remember, the trick is to protect, because once the damage is done, the leather is done.

    My water injection install

WOW, slick setup. I built one for a turbo years ago when I was running 16 lbs boost on a Saab The system was triggered by a vacuume switch. How is your system switched? Do you use a mix of alcohol and water?

    Air Conditioner Leak Again! Ideas?

I had to re-charge my ac once each season for the past three years. Always a real slow leak. You guessed it, "O" rings. Dodge wanted to replace the whole line (big bucks). I fixed it with some (God forgive me) Nissan o rings for about two bucks and am on my second season with no problems. (Hay...

Who would never, ever track their Viper?

A good "used" race car is only as good as the new unstressed parts that have been installed after each race and/or season IMO. Play & pay. It's for some, and not for others.

    Draining Fluidyne Rad?

I like to do business with VCA sponsors. Jon B at www.partsrack.com has a good aluminum radiator by "Ron Davis" racing. I personally have used this brand in my 650R for the last 4 years, and have been completely satisfied.

    Draining Fluidyne Rad?

Hi Nadine, If I suggested you try to turn the fitting more it would probably break, and I don't want that on my head so let me recommend you go right to the source www.fluidyne.com and email a tech. Best, Jim Davis

How long will a Viper be dependable?

There should be no problem clearing 100K if you treat your car reasonably.

Where to find complete [******] Rear End ASAP

Some [******] rear ends were equipped with non stock ratios; gears you can buy from any number of venders. Otherwise, the rear ends were stock. I run UniTrex 3:33 gears in my 650R because of the high speeds and long distances here in Montana. ****** (I was trying to say ("h-M-s") what a joke

    Gear Change $$$ (Complete)

Can you believe it, I threw the paperwork away the other day, but as best I recall 2 or three years ago it cost me about $700 for my 3:33 cryo treated gears, straps, gaskets etc. and spedo recal kit, and another 300 or 400 labor. I used a Jeep dealer for the install, as Jeep uses the same unit...

    Battery draw ???? help needed.

Had a similar problem with my 97GTS. Made me nuts.Turned out to be a relay located in the power distribution center. The relay was shorting causing the A/C magnetic clutch to activate, even when the car was turned off! That clutch draws a significant amount of power. It took me a weeks to figure...

Should I winter drive my Viper??

I practically agree with all of the above. You have to decide if you want to winterize your snake and put it away for the duration. Just starting the car up periodically with out driving it would be detrimental. If you choose to drive the car, I would recommend you put some honest miles on it...
