I somehow missed this! I will be in Atlanta on the 9th of April. How much of a drive is it for you to down there?

You'll get there. Then you'll be dragging other folks out of the Matrix kicking and screaming. :rolaugh:

    $11.99 foam gun

The 2-bucket wash totally makes sense when you're looking at the clean wash water and dirty rinse water. It's like, "Why wasn't I already doing this?" Gilmore has moved production of their guns to China so I don't know what kind of quality control they have now. Like I said before, I know the...

Not overkill, attention to detail. :2tu:

    $11.99 foam gun

Yea, that's a lot less foam than my gun produces. The Gilmore Foamaster (at $40-ish dollars), kicks out some serious foam. This is very comparable to the gun that Eric sells. But hey, I applaud the fact that you understand the need for this step in your wash routine.

Washed my car today for the first time

I would have to agree with 99% of what you've posted Slithr, with one small correction. A PC may or may not be able to remove every paint imperfection you have depending on the severity of the damage. Everyone's case is different so you have to take that into consideration. That's probably what...

Washed my car today for the first time

The instructions that came with the gun has all that info. I don't have one like that so I'm inexperienced with that model. You really can't use "too much" clay as it doesn't dissipate or get smaller as you use it. I use the entire chunk when I clay because I like how it fits in my hand. I...

    Needed my Claybar today

No matter how far you work away from your garage with any kind of aerosol, if the door to your garage is open, that stuff will find its way to your car. Spoken from experience! :smirk: Clay is excellent for removing over-spray with doing any damage to the paint. :)

Washed my car today for the first time

Those little devices that you are talking about ARE the adjustments for that gun. That's how you adjust the flow rates. Yea baby! This is not for the faint at heart. Now you know why I don't detail cars for a living! Only a man who has taken a trip down the rabbit hole can speak from...

    5" pad vs 6" pad

The way that it is set up is perfectly fine. You have a 5" back plate so you want to use a 5" counter-weight. Get started on your car! This is possible too. It depends on the style and manufacturer of the pad.

    5" pad vs 6" pad

What I said was the Adam's pads work on the 5" back plate. When I made that video, the pads that Adam's sold were 5.75 in size. That has since changed. Since those videos were made, the warehouse now configures the PC with the correct back plate and counterweight for the pads that Adam's sell...

    Gilmour Foamaster - Revisited

If you have seen my Waterless Wash videos, then you should know that not only do I use it on my Vette, I also use it a lot differently than most people use a waterless wash product. I use it way more than Detail Spray because I am usually cleaning something off the car when I use it and it is...

    Gilmour Foamaster - Revisited

It's funny that you bring up KC. I plan to do something of a clinic in St Louis. You and I are both 4 hours away from there. Sound like a perfect opportunity to get the Vettes and Vipers out for some fresh air! I don't know when I'll do the clinic but it is definitely on the list. :)

    Engine Bay

Never use high pressure water in the engine bay. The purpose of water when cleaning today's engines is to rinse off the initial dust and to rinse the soap off after the wash. Water should never be used to force remove dirt on today's engines. That is what will get you in trouble.

    Gilmour Foamaster - Revisited

Hell, the way Adam's foams up in a bucket is enough to tell you how good it is. That is some very rich soap.

when to touch up paint chips

You could use a drop of clear coat on the chip after the paint but I haven't experienced the dullness issue that you speak of. To Dan, I would agree that Dr. Colorchip is simpler. It's faster too, but both do work.

    Gilmour Foamaster - Revisited

And there you are. Experimenting with the mixture is going to be key to you deciding which way is best. If the foam canister was air tight, you wouldn't have to pour out the remaining soap after you completed your wash. Doing so is going to waste a lot of soap. For those who leave the soap in...

    Gilmour Foamaster - Revisited

I'm not taking it personal in the slightest way. I often get asked questions as to why I do something one way, and another guy does it a different way. I first explain WHY I do it the way I do. I allow people into my mindset so that they will have a thorough understanding as to how I'm...

    Gilmour Foamaster - Revisited

I agree. I bought my first Gilmore gun in 2007. Like I said, it was made in the USA, not China, which is where their guns are now made. I will add this also. If you're supposed to add staight soap to the foam gun, then why has no one from Gilmour, no one who uses DP's Extreme Formula or any...
