WHEN is there going to be an 08 Viper vs Z06 in the mags?

It will be just like the new Mustang GT500KR that is soon to be released. All the dealers will have them up on EBAY for $30,000 over MSRP. It is still difficult to find a Z06 at sticker. Most dealers are still gouging the customers. Then again, I wonder how painful the purchase of the "08 Viper...

    help shifting

I had the same problem until I took a closer look at the shift pattern. If you pay attention to the pattern of the shifter when you are going thru the gears you will notice it is not perfectly aligned front to back. For example, when you shift from 1st to 2nd, the shifter travel a little off...

WHEN is there going to be an 08 Viper vs Z06 in the mags?

When the '08 hits the showrooms, the "06 will be hard for the stocking dealers to sell. Especially with a low production, slower selling car like the Viper.

Where are all of the Maryland Vipers???

About 6 of us met at Capital Raceway in Bowie Md last Friday for a track rental day. It was alot of fun. We out to get the local Viper guys to show up at the Corvette Club of America's annual drags. Its open to all muscle cars. We always invite Vipers but only one or two show. I would even...

    Thermostat

The car seems to operate at 180 but commonly rises to 185 in traffic. So far the weather has not been too hot- today its going to be a high of 42 so I have not been able to test the new thermostat under outside temperature load. But the car does seem a little cooler inside. Jim

Got my reflashed controller back from DC Performance

I received my controller back and reinstalled it along with the a cooler thermostat and some K&N air filters. The reflash was worth it just to eliminate the 1-4 skip shift and to allow the car run cooler. I went with some members of the club on Friday to the track and ran a 11.75 on run...

Trying to install a cooler thermostat and am having a tough time with the themostat housing. I've removed the radiator hose and have all 4 bolts out but cannot move the housing more than 1/4" away from the motor. I do not have enough room to remove the old thermostat. Any suggestions?? Jim

Got my reflashed controller back from DC Performance

$600 plus the cost of a new thermostat. Performance calibration Optimized timing and fuel Revised fan cycle Improved mid-range power (15-25hp) Car should run cooler and feel less hot because of the lower running temperature. Jim

Viper sighting in MD on route 70 East

Doesn't that take about two tanks of gas in a Viper to go from College Park to Fredneck?

    Another stupid dealership story

I'm actually happy that my local Ford dealership was so shady on trying to sell me a GT500 or a GT40. I never would have walked out and bought my Viper. I have not decided whether its good thing that my wife really likes the Viper. She thought the GT500 Shelby and GT40 looked too Nascar. In the...

    Rear Gear Question

Flash, that's my question too. What I've gathered reading from this site so far: 3.33- Noticeable change. Better for road racing. Less likely to spin coming out of a corner vs. 3.55's. Maybe the best choice if you are running the stock Pilots. 3.45- Hard to find. Might be the best compromise...

    Another stupid dealership story

I remember when the original ZR-1 Corvettes first came out in the early 90's. A local Chevy dealership we had Corvette Club meetings at had a $50,000 market adjustment on the two that they had presold. Both owners put them in storage in hopes that they would make a fortune. Obviously not the...

    Rear Gear Question

I had my car for about a month and shifted "gently" into 2nd gear and destroyed the tranny. I ended up being #5 on a national waiting list for a new tranny. Took about a month for the dealer to get it. Happy it was still under warranty.

    Never been asked that before!

I was out for a ride with my 6 year old son in our Viper. We were driving thru a busy downtown business area when a local police officer stuck his hand out to stop us. Pedestrians were very interested as they probably thought that we had done something wrong (for once I was law abiding). I...

Was it the battery or just the cables? My Viper was having a hard time starting and then was completely dead. The battery cables were oxidized/ crusty. I cleaned them off and the car started right up. Jim

Did you notice enough difference in the Vipers acceleration with the 3.33 to make it worth the gear change?

Funny Dealer Story, I'm still laughing

Re: Funny Dealer Story, I\'m still laughing Sorry I can't tell what dealership it was as my friend signed a letter stating he would not disclose the incident in return for the warranty and tires. I don't want it to come back and bite him. But it was NOT Criswell. They have sponsored our...

Funny Dealer Story, I'm still laughing

Re: Funny Dealer Story, I\'m still laughing I've got one more dealer story to add. My buddy bought a new Z06 from a local Chevy dealer. His family owns a tire shop so he put some high dollar, very recognizable wheels on the Corvette. He stopped by my house a month later on the way up to the...

Funny Dealer Story, I'm still laughing

Re: Funny Dealer Story, I\'m still laughing The ironic part about the whole situation is Ford could have raised the sticker price of the GT500 and the GT40 20% and sold the same amount of cars. Maybe their financial issues would be less. The same could be said for GM and the Z06. Jim
