    future parts for gen 1's

Re: future parts for gen 1\'s bah you guys worry too much. Head gaskets are already made by a few aftermarket companies, screw the stock stuff. Calipers while may not say viper have come on numerous other vehicles, and worst case scenario just swap them for gen III or aftermarket. The viper...

Just returned from the Silver State Classic!

Congrats, it's an awesome event no doubt. Not sure on the total rundown, but an ultima GTR with a TT LSx won the Z2Z. Says he was having ignition issues but still took it by a safe margin. Now I have to call and break Rick's (F40) balls a bit :)

Sept 22, Great Lakes Dragway, Wisconsin

Ok ladies, let me see what I can put together. Hopefully I can get a tame little stock motor 97' on DR's to come out and be everyones "huckleberry"

At 200mph YOU have NO Friends! -stickers are ready!!

ahem, as the offical CPE navigator wouldn't that be CPE and ROGUE... passing you doing 205 at 4k rpm in 6th :nana: I'm curious, of all the people buying these stickers, how many have been deep into the 200 range? Heck how many have driven their cars to 180? In the last thread it...

    Frustrated with my Lowered Viper

500/800 doesn't seem overly soft at all. I would look into adjusting the valving of the shock to stiffen them up. Have you pulled the wheels to see where on the inner fender they are rubbing? Will give you a ring tomorrow and see if we can't get this thing setup a little better. :2tu...

    Viper Caliper's on Dakota 4x4

Re: Viper Caliper\'s on Dakota 4x4 I can tell you who makes the brackets, but they are absolute crooks. You're FAR better off buying a set of front calipers, stock front rotors, and having any competent local machinist make you the brackets. It's a VERY VERY simple piece, with minimal cutting...

    Frustrated with my Lowered Viper

Penske's are FANTASTIC shocks, WHEN tuned properly. One downside to such an advanced shock is that it's far easier to screw up. Who setup the valving (shim stack) for what you have now? Have you adjusted them at all? Your spring rates are extremely stiff, If anything overly so. Work...

    Puttin 96-99 pistons in a 01-02

Thanks JD. Yup not many tools required. Couple sockets, 4.00 ring compressor, bolt stretch gauge (more accurate than just a torque wrench), some plasti-guage to double check bearing clearance, and we're good to go. Other than double checking to be sure the piston/deck height it's all...

    Puttin 96-99 pistons in a 01-02

If you want to bring it to Chicago I'd be more than happy to help. Or for the right price we'll bring the tools to your pad and do it. :D

    Frustrated with my Lowered Viper

What type of shocks? What spring rate? Consider trimming the inner fender at all? What size tires?

    IL viper guys...

Yeah I suck :bonker: Some chit came up and we just couldn't make it out. If you guys are down lets go cause ruckus in the city this weekend. Friday night should be money. We're heading to Byron on Sat so if any of you want to bring the vipers out it should be awesome. Hit me up...

Am I Going to Have to Pull the Head??

Pull the valve cover and see if the valve is open, will be pretty darn obvious based on rocker position. Chances are it wasn't open far enough for the nut to fall through. A small mirror and a flashlight should let you look around in there and see if you can see it. If you can, then bend up...

    Puttin 96-99 pistons in a 01-02

I have yet to really beat on an 06', but personally don't care for the gen II ABS setup. We'll just agree to disagree, I'm ok with that, it's all a personal preference thing. :2tu: btw, where were you wed night? Didn't see you car at fuddruckers? I was in town and stopped by. edit...

    IL viper guys...

Myself and a friend stopped by your meet at fuddruckers last night, was nice meeting a few of you, sorry I couldn't stay around and make a formal introduction to everyone. :2tu: btw whoever owns that sapphire ACR with the grey SSR wheels, it's money :headbang:

    Puttin 96-99 pistons in a 01-02

finger slip, yeah 3 channel is what I meant. I thought it would be an issue as well but using different compound pads F&R has let me set it up very well thus far. Best bet would be to install an inline proportioning valve to the rear brakes though. Yes but the cylinder bore is the same...

    Key.. Help Please!

nope, just a VIN #, but will require extensive documentation to prove you actually own the car. Oh and if they don't happen to have the $100 "viper" key in stock, just use a 97-02 ram/dakota key. It won't have the fancy snake head but will work just fine in the car.

    1000 RWHP engine mods

Yes. add 10-15ft/lbs if using regular oil/assembly lube. Most importantly how ever you're going to assemble/torque them during the final build, be sure thats how they do it for the line hone. :2tu:

    Puttin 96-99 pistons in a 01-02

97-99 without a doubt. I honestly HATE the ABS on my 01, so much so I disabled it. IMO the 01' "upgrades" were a serious downgrade. ABS which is pathetic if you drive the car even remotely hard, weaker cam, and quieter but substantially weaker pistons... riiight. The only reason I would even...

For the love of god don't look at the pics... She is the true definition of double bager.

    Puttin 96-99 pistons in a 01-02

If you're going through the trouble of rebuilding the bottom end put some decent parts in it. And the stock ABS is lame, it comes in entirely too early and the 2 channel proportioning is mediocre at best. Call JE/CP and order good pistons, nice set of rods, and maybe a set of program billet...

    19/19 or 19/20? CCW 505A wheels

Gary's blue car had 19's all around, 355/25/19 rear, don't recall the front size.

Has anyone ever hit 200 mph in a gen 1?

But there is something kinda neat about droping it into 6th and cruising at 4k rpm with the speedo burried. :2tu: Is this assuming different gearing also? I always thought top speed was achieved in 5th? If you change to shorter gears for 1/4 wouldn't this lesson your top speed? I smell...
