    Kumho's?????

I'm running XS' now and was running V700's before. I put 16k miles on the V700's before i got a flat and ruined the sidewall on one of 'em. The new XS' are great and I wouldn't buy anything else.

New Member intro/ and some questions

Congrats on getting rid of the Vette!!! One thing you should know is that you bought the wrong color and that no matter what you do to it, it will never match the speed and awesomeness of a Red car... :omg: Welcome to the madness!!! :D

    My coolant overflow looks empty?

I'll argue that one. I have not experienced this brown gunk phenomenon that you speak of in any vehicle that I have run red coolant in. Our experiences may be different due to any variety of factors. Lets do a test. I'll switch my entire fleet back over to green coolant. For every...

    My coolant overflow looks empty?

I'd have to disagree with you on that based predominantly on what I have seen in my fleet. We are getting about 2 years longer coolant life with ELC vs traditional coolant. ELC doesn't break down nearly as fast. I wouldn't say it "cools" any better, but it does last significantly longer. Also...

Question about Oil Pan Gasket Replacement

A guy I used to work with at a dealership used to do this. He was too cheap to buy his own sythetic oil and since most of the customers would religiously do 3000 mile oil changes, he would take old oil bottles and catch the oil as it drained from the crankcase. He would then pour the oil into...

    Heat/Overheat Problem

The issue with the heater not working could be a vacuum problem or blower box door issue as well. I know that doesn't help with the overheating but it could solve one problem. Owning different models, I can't say exactly what your temp sensor would ohm out at. According to the GEN II book, it...

    Heat/Overheat Problem

Tempe Sensor or Gauge could be bad. As far I as can tell, the temperature switch on the dash is connected to a water valve via a cable. If that water valve was jammed or the cable was stretched, that could cause a no heat issue. That could also be the "blockage" in the heater core. When...

General "what to look out for thread" for a noob

Viper Tax is on pretty much every part and/or service you can imagine. There are some "off the shelf" parts that Dodge used on the Viper and other vehicles and these parts generally don't carry the Viper Tax (or aren't "taxed" nearly as much). Such is life though with a low volume high...

    Replacing Water Pump

Unfortunately, I do... I had an overheating issue awhile ago. Wound up having a leaky radiator (it wasn't an RDR :D). I replaced the radiator and that temporarily took care of the issue but now that its 104* out, my temp gauge almost pegged again but this time with no coolant loss. The temp...

So, you want a VOI 11 right?

Since Phoenix isn't getting any love, I'll state some facts (opinions ;)) to think about: Road Courses at Bondurant/Firebird, and PIR. Dragstips at Speedworld and Firebird. Mountain drives within a half hour. 65 mph speed limits throughout most of the city. 75 mph on rural...

    what is a ps2

See if the timing cover gasket and/or oil pan gasket were ever replaced. Also check to see if Recall 998 was performed (and perfromed correctly).

A/C blowns ice cold when driving, but sitting at idle, not really cold.

Check your condensor as well. Blow it out with compressed air. If you really want to clean it out, loosen the radiator and move it back a bit. A lot of crap can get packed between the condensor and the radiator causing poor cooling and poor a/c function.

    Comp Coupe help???

In some states, you may be able to get an "assigned" VIN. However, it would generally only be valid in that state. You may also be able to get it titled as a kit car. In AZ the car has to have mirrors, proper lights, seat belts, and fenders to be considered for a kit car title. I know of an Indy...

    '96 overheated, oil creamy brown

Bingo!!! Well said. The water pump mounts directly to the timing chain cover as well, so there is coolant movement through the timing chain cover. If I remember correctly, the two large holes on the front of the block in the picture are coolant passages as well. When mine failed and leaked, it...

    $2,000 service, are you serious?

I think the value of 24/7 knowledge is priceless. That's part of the reason I pony up the cash to be a Club member and access this site. Any time I have issues, I can do a search for the specific problem and usually get an answer. There are enough experts on this site to be able to fix 99% of...

    $2,000 service, are you serious?

Procedurally almost every alignment on almost every car/truck is the same. The benefit of using a Viper Tech is that he may have alignment specs that differ slightly from "standard" that may be better for the street or track. Is it worth the money? Depends on how you use your car...

    Dressed or Naked ??

At first glance, I like the plain black rims. After a few more looks, I like the red/black combo simply because the hardware that holds the wheel together breaks things up a bit and makes it look classy. But really, you can't go wrong either way...

Lighthearted fun...which car gets the most looks, Gen II or III/IV?

I prefer the Gen II GTS. Just as long as it's not YELLOW... :crazy2: I get tons of looks and have heard "That looks like a race car" more times than I can count.
