I wish I would have talked to Greg more before I did the cam that I did, if I would have only known better. I'd be making well over 650rwhp N/A and not 565rwhp+
If your going to do coatings, do the heads(intake and exhaust ports) and valves too! This is starting to sound like the build up I'm planning on....you bastered I hate you....naaaa...I don't hate you, I just can't wait to start mine!
With a good solid roller cam and dry-sump, rev that thing to 7000-7500rpm and put all the stroker motors to shame. I bet it would be cheaper than a custome crank too. Talk to Greg about it.
Next time you talk to Greg Good, tell him "HIS" red 01 ACR is going to run 10's soon. :D
I will be there. I'm not going to be running the street tire classs. I hope to hit some high 10's N/A. I just need to hurry up and get a job and get some tires, or I'll be stuck running 6 y/o stock tires spinning half track into the low 11's :D
You really don't need to do a stroker to get 1,000rwhp out of a viper. You can if you want. A Set of Styker Race heads ported by Greg Good will give you more power than the small amount of cid you get from a stroker crank.
Rod size depends on how big you go.
Some. It's a good street cam, idle is like a older viper a little lumpy. Power on the top end is a little better. But over all, if I was just doing a cam....I wouldn't use it, not worth the work.
If I were to stay all motor doing a H/C setup....Solid Roller all the way. Better idle...
600rwhp can be had on a stock bottom end. It's just a matter of how you want to do it. You can do it the easy way using F/I (roe, paxton or tubos) OR the hard way N/A.
I know of a larger single Turbo Viper making 950+rwhp on a STOCK motor (or so they say.)
hehe...Mine is Bellinger's header, no cats and bellinger's RACE exhaust.
I've been told that when at idle it sounds like the Space Shuttle taking off :D
Honestly the best you can do is add a extra set of HF cats. You will loose some power though.
I too have a small cam, but less...
Twister,
I think the real question you should be asking is... "How far do I want to take this setup?"
If you plan not to do headwork and just keep it bolt-ons, it's not worth it to do the cam.
If you plan to do the cam, you might as well go all the way and not half way like I did. I...

Not even possible.
ZOzit w/ 200lb driver comes in at 515 @ 3350 6.5 ish
Viper w 200lb driver comes in at 700(easy) @ 3650 5.2-ish
ZOzit made about 650bhp for a 5.15 ratio.
If I've just taking it easy on the street, I keep the revs from 1000rpm to 2000rpm. The rest of the time the motor lives from 4500-6000rpm.
Your car must have something wrong with it if you feel you "NEED" to shift at such a high rpm while just driving. I remember when my ACR was stock...
I'd love meet up. Nov is not far away and I'll be at the track once again. Orlando Speed World has NO track prep. Hitting 10's will be tough. We'll do a few roll-ons and see how they stack up. N/A vs S/C fun run. :D
