    Gen V Autoweek

emerir, I think you got under the skin of most people here because like many people out there that don't know any better, it appears from your posts that you think the Viper is a straight line car only and is not good on the track which is completely false. Unfortunately many uninformed people...

Unfortuante that the Gen V will be so pricey

I like the GTR and I am considering getting one but at least SRT isn't (yet) doing what they did. They came out in 09 for high $70k's and the has increased incrementally from then until now to a total of $20k and now the MSRP is high $90K's with small improvements. You also have to look at...

Chrysler prices new Viper near $100,000, below Corvette ZR1

Maybe not quality exotic but exotic nonetheless. Yes a 04 Gallardo or Ferrari F355. Those are considered exotic and both would get smoked by your ACR and for $100k I think the base Viper is priced well. As for the $145k GTS, do you consider a Porsche 911 to be exotic? I don't and the turbo...

Chrysler prices new Viper near $100,000, below Corvette ZR1

I still think the base SRT Viper is priced reasonable and I don't understand the argument about how taxes, title, delivery, etc. will add thousands to the car. Of course it will add to the price of the car but every car you buy is going to have those same costs, it is not like those are waived...

2013 SRT Viper pricing to be announced MONDAY

It doesn't need to be $130k, for $100k (which is not much different than the price of a 2010) you get all of the same features as the previous gen plus much much more. Based on this alone I think the modest increase in price for a base Viper is more than reasonable. I would like to get all of...

2013 SRT Viper pricing to be announced MONDAY

I just don't know where people are coming up with their numbers. All of the recent magazine articles that were posted on here have consistent estimated pricing (right below $100k starting for a base SRT). Sure they could be wrong but not $30k wrong. People really think they are going to be...

2013 SRT Viper pricing to be announced MONDAY

$130k for a starting price or loaded GTS? No way $130k for a starting price of a base SRT Viper.

2013 SRT Viper GTS Launch Edition Debuts at Pebble Beach

Make my dreams come true! Sorry, couldn't resist.

Gen V Discussions are getting very stale

I agree as well. I just want to see some performance numbers. It has been months since the release and nothing really new except pics.

From the back, SSG STREET GTSR GEN V...

The Blue/white is the best pic yet to me.

Disappointed with the SRT staff at the NY auto show...

I figured that dealers would mark them up given the likely high initial demand. Hopefully things slow down in a couple of years when I am ready to buy so I can at least buy one for MSRP. Did you buy all of your Vipers from the same dealer? If you bought them from the same dealer I would hope...

    Gen V Price???

^^^Agreed 100% on the right under $100k figure. While I am sure you can get to $137k with a bunch of options in the GTS, there are ways to get one much lower in the base model. Even one of the magazines quoted a base price estimate starting right under $100k.

Any photos of the other exterior colors yet?

Here is what Absoluthank said in another thread: "I personally asked this question to Ralph at the Gala, and he thought stripe pics/info would be available in 6-8 weeks...with blue/white 100% a reality. Take it for what it's worth." So it looks like at some point it will come.
  14. P

    Stripes??

Nice. Seems pretty cool that you actually got to talk to Ralph. I thought it would be mobbed and you wouldn't be able to. Did he say anything about why "only" 640hp?
  15. P

    Only 640 hp? WTF

This and a little less weight are the biggest differences. The gearing in the previous vipers really held them back. I can't wait to see the performance numbers.

A few photos from the launch today...

That's one of the first things I noticed, no big wheel gap which provides a great stance.
  17. P

Why did they unveil it in that hideous color? Should have been VIPER RED!

I have to agree with Kaneda 100% it should have been Viper red or even blue with white stripes.
  18. P

Two price classes...what does that mean?

Base is $95k and fully loaded GTS about $125k.
  19. P

    New Viper is huge letdown

Exactly what I have been saying to everyone that kept saying it was going to be $140k. $95k for a base Viper is a very good number for what you get when you compare it to a Gen IV.

    Only 640 hp? WTF

Car looks great inside and out. I am disappointed it has "only" 640hp. It is like they just wanted to top the ZR1's hp by a couple hp just to say they had more. I would have been more than happy with 660hp which is what I thought they would have done. Overall, it is a huge improvement in...

    Gen V images leaked

I think it looks pretty good. I am a Gen II fan so to me it looks like a modern Gen II. Many people complained about the styling of the Gen III/IV and how it didn't have the curves/hourglass shape of the Gen II. This is where I think it has been said that it looks like a girl on a beach. It is...

    Autoblog Gen V Rendering!

I bet that is very close to what it is going to look like and I like it although I am a GTS fan. A more modern GTS with the performance to back it up would be great IMO.

    Worst teaser campaign ever

Like it or not, the way they have marketed the new Viper has many here wanting more and more. I have been looking on this site more the past two months than I have in years based on the anticipation of the new Gen V. I like that they posted teaser pics not really showing a whole lot and having...

    Gen 5 total leak!!

Nice try Lee. That is the old GTSR concept with a photoshopped or different hood and rear fenders. Plus the backend doesn't have the lip like the covered profile of the Gen V they showed last week and no NACA duct. 3 days and counting.
