Sorry guys, I just don't think the C6 will approach the SRT-10's performance. I used to have a Z06, and I know a lot of Corvette people, and I have seen so many public statements from Corvette design team people (Dave Hill, especially) that it is not GM's intent to build the Corvette to compete...
We plan to get there at 2, to see ALMS qualifying and then the Speed GT race. We have a friend with an RV spot on the outside of turn 10, the first spot next to the bleachers. Where will you guys be?
The highest qualifying Viper was one of the McCanns, at 9th place, 1.1 seconds off the polesitter.
That semi race is going to be weird. I have never seen one of those.
Re: What is it with people who think the Viper doesn\'t handle and is only a 1/4
Actually, I think Corvette owners are some of the worst offenders in the "Vipers don't handle" category. When I had a Z06, that was what I heard all the time, but again, those are people who have never driven one...
Re: Deal\'s Gap, NC Highway 129
I drove my Z06 there before I got rid of it in favor of the Viper. I don't especially like it, for the reasons stated above. It is about the most dangerous road I can think of for pushing your car. Cars and bikes wreck on that road regularly. I prefer...
Here's my opinion on this issue. I owned and autocrossed a 2001 Z06 for 2 years before getting rid of it in favor of my 2002 GTS. I have also autocrossed the GTS several times now. I have driven both cars on the track (different tracks, though). I am convinced that the GTS handles better...
Achilles and I are planning on being at the ALMS event, all day Sunday (so that will include the Speed GT race, I think). But I agree with Tom, maybe the corral isn't necessary unless we get more people who will FOR SURE be there.
Tom we can talk later if you want to hook up at the ALMS thing.
I got a really bad case of curb rash all around the rim of my right rear wheel after being nearly run over by a soccer mom in a Ford Exaggeration SUV. I took it to Wheel Wizard here in Atlanta and they fixed it -- looks absolutely perfect. Cost me about $140, I think.
I drive mine every day in any weather. About 1000 miles/month. I would probably not drive it on the highway in heavy rain due to hydroplaning. And I park carefully too. But I love driving it every day!
I just received this announcement about the autocross that several of us were going to this weekend in Talladega:
Unfortunately TGPR is posponed to a later date due to weather. The recent storm activities have deposited large debris and also caused flooding of half the track. While the...
Re: Autocross this Sunday 5/11/03 @ Little Talladega Al .....1.35 mile course
The current forecast says 40% chance of rain. If that gets significantly downgraded, I will probably drive over in the morning, so I could caravan with you, Teddy. But if it looks "iffy" I think I would prefer to...
This whole thing started when I made the statement that I thought a Viper was just as good as a Z06 in an autocross, based on me driving both cars in autocross events. A bunch of Z06 guys offered to prove me wrong by having some Viper vs. Corvette action at some local events. The events so far...
Hoosiers are legal in stock classes. When we first started these events, we were doing a Viper vs. Z06 comparison, and the idea was that everyone would be on street tires. If we are going to compare Z06's on Hoosiers to Vipers on street tires, it is no longer a meaningful comparison. I am...
SCCA is supposed to put a sign-up page on the web soon, but it isn't there yet. I will post when it occurs. I think the "limited space" is more like "no novices allowed" than there being a limited number of spots for registration. They say they are going to allow registration through May 5, I...
