On the Viper, maybe. I don't know.
But on other cars, you better bet it is a problem. Depending on the space between the header and the head, sometimes even with insulation my wires would crack. This happenend especially with LT1...
Is it a coupe?? Because the guy that did my safety inspection is the same old fart that's been working there since I was a fresman in college, some 15 years ago...

That same effect happens to workers, DJ's Bartenders, Bouncers, etc. Part of my business is night club stuff, I've heard plenty cases like this...

Oh man, I know that station pretty well! I live on 15th and Bay, 4 blocks away!... I never go there with the Viper because of that same reason! I sometimes thought I was being paranoid but I guess not.
Ditto. Just make sure to spray some anti-rust primer on the welds, or the steel will start to rust through there, under the galvanized finish and spread like a cancer...

Mine are 3" but I know that most of the aftermarket exhausts are 2-1/2.
I am betting on the cones providing less restriction on 3" than on 2-1/2's...?

But I did some research on the cones, and apparently since the area of the cone is actually greater than the inside diameter of the pipe, there is very little if any h.p. loss. Definitely...

But:
-I am using 32" MAGNAFLOW mufflers...
-Now I have VORTEX cones, huge difference.
So I have a car w/out cats, but as quiet or quieter than one with cat-back+cats.
The biggest difference is the Vortex cones.
I think that first post was a lame attempt at explaining that once you drive the Viper you just fall in love w/ it, even if you don't like some things about it.

As far as I know you couldn't do anything with that gun anyway, only use it to defend your life and not to chase down a hit-runner... You lawyers here, what are the civilized citizen's options on this case?

Tom I agree with what you say, that'd be my #2 step. But again, how hard is it to cycle on-acc 3 times to at least get a first perspective of what's wrong?
There's plenty websites out there with OBDII codes info...
Check the codes as I said first.
For all you know, you have another problem that is not the gas cap and you need to take it to the dealer.
You will have saved yourself the trouble and money of buying the code reader.
After all, cycling ON-ACC 3 times is not that hard, is it?
