RACING SOLUTIONS SETS NEW WORLD RECORD 9.56 @150.7!!!..

The cool thing was it looked so effortless. It was still light out when the timing tower read of 9.56/150.7 so the heat of the Texas day still hung in the air, what the car could do in cooler air is an interesting thought. There are 9.40's in it for sure and like Gerald said this is with the...

    sidepipes

The clear coat is the key. Use a flat/matte/semi/gloss clear coat according to your taste. Any high temp spray will stick but it's hard to get an even finish from a can. I would at least shoot the clear in a booth after the final color sand.

    REHASH - Sidepiping a GTS

    1. The sound level is considerably higher due to the enclosed cabin. If you are just starting out at the track leave the exhaust at the rear or you will have trouble hearing your instructor at speed. Turn your head to watch his lips and you'll have two off before you know it. 2. Big motor, big...

What Hot Cars Have You Raced With Your Viper On Open Track?

Dean is being far too modest. I've watched him take out GT40's, big Cobras, trailer queen Porsches and even get around a red and white striped GTS for half a lap at Cabaniss. The guy eats Ferraris for lunch...

    New Viper Owner (Advice Requested)

Don't open that hood on the side of the road if it's windy. Even that semi blowing by can turn your clamshell into a $10k kite. Dialing in a 1/2-3/4 degree of negaitve camber can reduce dartiness on the street at the cost of some tire wear. DO NOT let anyone drive the car that tells you what an...

    03 Pricing Annouced Today

If a Diablo can sell for near $300k then $80k plus for an SRT is money in the bank for performance types. As for reliability I've seen a lot of TT's trailered back from the track after getting their butts kicked by Vipers over the weekend. One of the reasons I like Porsche guys so much is they...

Brutally hot day road racing, questions about keeping the body cool...

In Texas we know a little something about heat, 110 just isn't fun unless you've got at least 90% humidity thrown in as well. The best advice I could give is keep yourself in good physical condition. Hit the gym at least 4-5 times a week, eat well, no alcohol for at least 24 hours before an...

How to get downforce on 2001 GTS?

A wing will create significant downforce, a double wing even more. Make sure you balance the front with a splitter and reload your shocks/springs and alignment to compensate if you plan on really using the downforce. Remember you are trading energy that would otherwise go into your forward...

Bought a Red 97 GTS Coupe!

Cutting out the resonator, adding high flow cats and going to side pipes will cure that problem you are having with the exhaust noise level... Congrats!

Finally installed Autoform front splitter (pics)

I've got nothing but good things to say about the Autoform splitter. I drove it street and track for thousands of miles on a severly lowered car and was impressed by it's robustness and functionality. It would scrape the entrance to turn one at TWS at well over 120mph on every lap (due to the...

    Hoosiers = 5 seconds

Hoosiers make life too easy. The only time I got to run Hoosiers was on GTS Dean's car one morning and that car just plain kicks A anyhow. Never ran them on my GTS. If you want to have some fun and learn the car run streets and everything else your first season and work on keeping up with the...

    supra owner thinking about viper

Chassis flex is one problem you won't have in a Viper regardless of whether it's an RT or GTS. I've never heard of any windshield stress either and I've been around the track a time or two in both Gen I and Gen II cars. ABS came on in 2000 if I remember correctly. But then so did the new...

So that's what it would look like...

Re: So that\'s what it would look like... It does make you wonder how long DC will wait if, without the Prowler, the assembly line at CAAP is not operating at 110% for long.

Autoweek Picture of GT-40 Running over a Viper Bigfoot style LOL

I had the pleasure of running against a beautiful GT40 at Cabaniss Field a couple of years back. I was amazed how quickly the Vipers present got around it. I mean it got it's butt kicked and was back on the trailer and out of there before the end of the first day. Our first heat I passed...

    Gen II Side pipes

It makes a perfect flow port for your differential cooler. Later I added a trailer hitch there so I could haul tires and tools to the track and had the setrab unit laid flush. Put a metal surround around it a la Hennessey and it cleans up a bit. I suppose you could fill it with metal grating...

BEAT by SUBARU WRX took drastic measures!

Filters and smoothies, tires, headers etc. are great but they won't make up for seat time. Get familiar with the car and you are unlikely to see tailights again from anything that hasn't been thoroughly modded. There's a reason the Ferraris don't come out to play at the Viper/Ferrari War the...

    How about these babies!?

3-4 weeks? I couldn't wait that long. Get out your sandpaper and then your metal polish and get to work. Tape and bag your tires first to keep them clean if they are going to stay on the wheels. Great looking wheels, put me in the line for wanting to see pictures of them mounted. A big brake...

    Side Sill Chip Gaurds ????

I'd put them on, they are practically invisible and will save you from a lot of damage over time. And get a roll of the 3M film as well for other areas like the inside of the wheel well if you are really concern about reducing wear and tear. It's cheap protection for paint and glass anytime...

What do you think I can get for 50,000 - 54,000

Clean GTS's for $50k and under are not uncommon. Lowest I've heard for a clean title/clean appearance/no damage was $39k for a high milage (80k) GTS described as "pristine" by the tech who inspected it. But then buying in the dead of winter back east may have helped too. There's more to it than...

Why our Oil Pressure Gauge is worthless...

What Joe said. I used the same setup in my GTS that he has. The first day at the track after the swap I did a comparo betwen Mobil One and Royal Purple. The Autometer's were able to give much better reference points with their better gradation on the face and responded much more quickly. The...

WHAT....No Drag Racing During this years VOI???

VOI events in Bowling Green, I love it! Talk about bringing the war home. How about a tour of the Corvette line while were at it ? Hey, if Kingman and Prashant say it's gonna happen it's gonna happen. End of story. Maybe they booked the main hallway at the Opryland Hotel, the thing's long...

My '96 GTS is for sale for $45k Firm

Re: My \'96 GTS is for sale for $45k Firm You are killing me Dion. If the house I have on the market sells before your car does I'm calling you. You have always carefully researched your mods and are familiar with what makes a Viper tick. And your not afraid to put your foot into it at the...

Your Favorite Thing About Your Snake!

The best part of owning a Viper for me was the the Viper Nation. Don't get me wrong, there is nothing like a car that you can drive to the track and beat and trailer queen Ferrari that grids with you, a car that performs flawlessly well after others have retired to the shop for the day, one that...

    Side splitters from PartsRack!

Good heaven's, my name's still being tossed around on this august board? Wayne failed to mention he bolted my old splitters on his second Viper after I stuffed my car. Old Viper's never die, they just go into to the donor program. Now he's got a new Viper and on this one I think he lifted my...

    Doesn't this look wonderful.........

Re: Doesn\'t this look wonderful......... Been there, done that. That tear in the side panel takes more work than most insurance adjusters like to think, don't let them jack you around. Call every source they list on their estimate sheet and verify the information. I found the info provided...
