Although they use the same calipers and rotors, GEN 1 & 2 have different knuckles. I talked to IPSCO about it years ago when the GEN1 brackets were discontinued - maybe the GEN2 brackets can be modified to fit GEN1.
Brembo has different p/n for GEN1 and GEN2 kits, both front and rear.
IPSCO stopped GEN 1 brake support quite a few years ago.
If you need something ASAP, I have the following:
Giro Disc 2 piece front rotors (1 set left in stock) - they dramatically help in cooling and reduction of rotational mass.
Stainless lines front and rear - better pedal pressure.
Hawk...
Basic bolt ons. None scream 'track' to me. They will definitely clean up the driver experience - someone spent decent money on them.
GEN5 manifold makes a +15hp, less prone to heat soak (plastic vs. aluminum) and looks cool.
KW V2 is their street coilover, it's a nice coilover and definitely...
Without a fan shroud, you are going to have higher low speed temps. Those 2 fans have a combined 2300 CFM rating, for reference a single 16" SPAL will produce of 3000 CFM.
Make sure you have the correct gear fluid. If I recall, the '96 uses ATF not 75W90 gear oil.
I assumed it was foam under the console that stuck there when removed. Never really paid attention to it.
Either way, something to add some structure under the console would be nice for those of us who have a center console that is not longer flat and makes the hard plastic shifter trim float...
You should be able to bump to 295 without issue on a 10" wheel
.
If you are doing auto-x, pop off the plastic steering rack stoppers (under the rubber boots & takes 5 min to remove once boots slid back). It will give you more steering angle and not change alignment.
Depending on your class...
If you cannot find OEM, there is an owner making an aftermarket version that looks really nice. I'm in need of one too, my plastic shifter surround is raised, so hoping he gets it finished in the near future.
Fronts are bolt on affair. Rear require cutting.
Aside from rotors and calipers, pads are different between GEN1/2 & 3+, stainless braided lines are suggested and at this point most people switch to 5.1 fluid. If you want to retain parking brake, go with 13" rear option to run the Brembo...
Just throw some high flow cats in and your volume will drop dramatically. I have GESI and Magnaflow available. Personally, I run GESI and they had a significant sound reduction.
2.5" exhaust will be quieter than 3". 3" has marginal gains over 2.5" on a stock motor through most of the powerband.
Either get a rebuilt water pump with billet impeller or a billet impeller and have your mechanic swap pulleys.
BUT ... and BIG BUT. That pic is of a destroyed power steering pulley. You should be able to swap on the one you bought and get back on the road. No need for water pump.
