Vette Forum's ZR1 vs ACR challenge?

That would be ridiculous. Figure 6:45? Sure would do an interesting number on the Ferrari 599XXX. 'Course the 599XXX is a "one off" "production car" and although you could buy it $1.2 million bucks, you're not allowed to take it home and probably not allowed to drive it? Yet Ferrari says...

Vette Forum's ZR1 vs ACR challenge?

Sorry, but you're incorrect. At the SRT tech session I attended we were informed that GM DID go back to the ring and tried running sport cups on their ZR1 to beat the ACRs time. Of course you didn't hear about that failure, did you? I heard a rumor. Anyway, the ZR1 did get PS2s and GM...

    dyno numbers to low? (bhp)

Sean Roe helped me learn how to tune the Vec. When I logged it he would write me a program to adjust timing and mixture and I could open the email, unzip and load it into my Vec with my laptop. I eventually got tired of being a PIA to Sean and started doing my own tuning and only use Sean for...

    NOS Question

I think that Nitrous is perfect for occaissional speed contests. Nitrous make a constant hp and that is not related to engine rpm. 5th gear speed contests using Nitrous work past the TOO High 5th gear and add full power even though the engine is running lower rpms than it should. A...

    NOS Question

Macedo Motorsports installed a custom Nytrex system in my 2000 ACR to compliment my Paxton powered engine. +200rwhp when the Nitrous gets turned on. To be safe you would probably be much better off to get an experienced Tuner (like DC Performance or Macedo Motorpsorts) to at least design the...

    Parts Rack

Jon always hands out a lot of support and prizes for many Viper chapters and events. I've handed out pens and other free presents at Wstrn Cda events and ....... I won a Dodge Ram watch and THE new Belanger Headers at VOI! I also save money buying headgaskets, EBC brake pads, etc. from JonB

Keeping new Viper owners SAFE - a How To:

Keeping new Viper owners SAFE - a How To:

Everyone that hasn't taken at least 1 high performance driving course doesn't know what they are talking about and doesn't know enough to drive a Viper at speeds more than the legal speed limit and no stunting. As JonB said, "Driving school". It's the only way to practise and learn what they...

    Question of preference I suppose

JonB makes excellent points, if budget is a consideration Jon's suggestion is probably the best one. Only other thing not mentioned is Nitrous Oxide, but it is really impractical except for the racetrack. Massive hp really cheap, but only for a few seconds at a time. Ted

What's the easiet way to install this metal brace...

I do all of my own work after buying my cars. I am not the greatest at tuning and will eventually go to a Pro tuner (like DC Perf) once I'm finished. The Paxton should come with a rough tune and the tune shouldn't matter until about 3,000rpm so you could drive it to DC Performance gently...

    header install question

The Bellangers I just won at VOI 11 (thanks JonB and Lou B) are coated inside and outside for heat dispersal NOT into the engine compartment. Edelbrocks historically are painted. You could send them in and get them coated, but I'm not sure if that would probably ruin the emissions...

    Question of preference I suppose

Roe TS supercahrger will satisfy your lust for torque. My Paxton drives like a Gen4 with 600rwhp. Nice and soft, easy to control and even a car that someone could drive without crashing it. Wife likes the Paxton best. My Roe is loud, runs very rough at idle and has full power at 2,000rpm...

Are the Gen II's value a little too high??

Keeping in mind that since these cars are older now the condition is important. An idiot would buy a Viper with old tires, whereas a smart guy would cut a thousand (at least) for any older tires than PS2s. Older tires are OK unless you want to drive the car.

    header install question

I used the stock steel exh. gask. As 1tony1 said, they are reuseable. For reuse a thin film of red (hitemp) silicone would help but probably not necessary. The modern thick flanges really make headers reliable. I'd retighten the bolts after a few heat cycles to maintain integrity of the...

What's the easiet way to install this metal brace...

Plum's right. Paxton doesn't use the crossmember. My Paxton car has a custom built tube Xmember with Heim ends for support adjustment. Not sure if this is part of the Paxton kit - Phil?

    Help...power steering bracket install

The spacers are to align the pulley with the belt. Since yours is a Gen 2 I's say, "Yes" you'll need the spacers. It'll be obvious whether you need the spacers or not as soon as you bolt it up. Ted

Wheel hop = Blown rear end :( Be careful

I would replace the axles with stronger Unitrax ones. The 800hp axles are about the price of stock. My 720rwhp Roe Viper has 1,000 hp Titanium axles as one of the 800hp splines twisted slightly. Reliability is important when you drive your car cross-continent. Break-downs are not an option...

Are the Gen II's value a little too high??

AAR and T/A had a different engine (+40bhp 6pk and 4blt mains), trans (Hemi font drum) and stripes/decals built for rally. ACR has $12,000 worth of racing shocks, $4,000 worth of lighweight racing wheels, different air intake system +10bhp, racing harnesses, decals and badge. Option cost was...

redlined bad now not running right

He is a nice guy. He sent my wires to Macedo Motorsports when I went to Florida last year and said to mail him a cheque. He did get ripped off by a tuner (SVS?) on a custom set though. Not sure if he ever did get paid or not after he posted it. Twister, you still have to grab the plug wire...

    New headers on the way!

At VOI Arrow had a Gen4 to Gen2 or 3 top end package that was 650hp. No, I didn't get a price. I would be interested in a set of Gen4 heads for that extra 100rwhp though. Ted

    TPMS

When Dan first offered the Hella and Orange Tire Pressure (and Temp) Monitor Systems I had to have one. I bought it from Dan and installed it into my car - except that when I went to instal the tires sensors my VR1s had small valve stems and there was no possibilty to drill ou the holes. I...

Are the Gen II's value a little too high??

I agree. The extra $12,000 worth of shocks do have serious value as well, and the BBS lightweight wheels are still a set of the nicest wheels to come on a Viper. According to the Viper registry there were only about 819 ACRs built between 1999 and 2002. International Viper Registry Ted
