New to forum & vipers,I have the chance to buy a 97 GTS w/10,000 miles and appears to be in very good condition.Im looking for a weekend car that I do not have to continually tinker with, but not knowing vipers I am hesitant to buy w/o knowing more. Are there years to avoid etc...Any help you can give would be greatly appreciated.

Have it checked over by a Viper Tech before you complete the purchase. There are a lot of Vipers out there with unreported accidents, body work, etc.

Also check the tires. With only 10k miles it still might be on the originals, which should probably be replaced due to age (even if they have tread left.) Replacing 4 tires on a Viper isn't inexpensive so factor that in to your initial costs as well.

Good luck -

Bone stock, red and in the Kansas City Mo. area. Its not the color I wanted but I might be able to get it for a bit under book value.

I really wanted and Blue and White with low miles, stock and from somewhere that dampness (rust) wasn't a problem. The one I found was bought new in Arizona and had 9900 miles on it so I bought it. Good luck.

[******] book value for that car is like 32k-33k according to kelly BB. i have the same car with 9900 miles and i would never consider selling under 50k. i know it is high but then again i wouldnt sell her for 100k

Under book value means one of two things....either you need to be cautious, or the seller has no idea what market value for the car is and he's about to take a bath. Have it carfaxed, then have Chuck Tator or Bill Pemberton look up the VIN in the Dodge database. If it's got a clear history, have a Viper tech or experienced Viper owner check it out for you. Then if it's clean and you really can get less than book, ****** that sucker up. Good luck!
