3.73 for me as well...

I have 19's in the back and with the stock 3.07's it just feels like the car is missing something compared to my Gen 1 with 3.55's. I am going to go for the 3.73's just so I can get there quicker. I don't quarter mile my car, I don't top end my car...99% of my driving is under 140, so I should be just fine taking most things from a role...or so I think.

So, what should I do when I upgrade?

i think the 3:55 give you the best of both worlds even with a tire that is .75 inches larger in diameter, you are able to retain the top end, better gas milage and a boost in acceleration,little less wear and tear on your transmission and clutch, the 3:73 will give you a bit more acceleration but you will be working the gears a bit more, lose some mpg and top end, when you need that top end and dont have it on the track it will be aggravating, some day you may find yourself on the track more than you think

I'm running 3:73 on a 18" rim. I love the gear and wont go any high. My driving style is just like your and trust me you want 3:73

another good point to consider, if you ever decide to do forced induction in the future 3:55s are the most you want to go

Running 345/30/19s and going with 3.55s. Thought about 3.73s but deemed against cause I see a paxton in my future

Running 3.73's with a Paxton & rowing waaaay too fast through the gears.

No. Sorry. Very pleased with my 3.33 right now.

I forget where I heard this, but is it true that if my 96 GTS is running 19s front and 20s rear and I install 3.55's it will be equivalent to running 3.33's?

Right now I still have the stock 3.07 gears.

Right now I still have the stock 3.07 gears.

Gear calculator on line. I think Dave did 3.73 with 20's (see above) and it equates to 3.45 maybe?

I tried every ratio in the same car. 333 345 354 373 410. The 333 turners the best time in the 1/4 mile with drag radials. I wasnt powershifting because powershifting into 3rd is 50/50 for me. Or more 40/60:) if powershifting and getting ful traction then the higher gears would be better. From a roll i feel the same unless ur racing for only 10 feet when u shift and spin 333 are going to pass u.

Along the same lines, I run close to 130 in the quarter, the 3.73's won't make the traps in 4th with my current tires. I was running 3.33's and recently changed to 3.55's. They do make 5th gear far more usable. I think they are the perfect gear.
