Just wanted to share some details from my lighting upgrade journey on my 99 Viper. The low beams info should apply for any car that uses a 9005 halogen or LED bulb. The fog lights info should apply to all Vipers from 1992 to 2010.
TLDW:
Starting off with the low beams, I had a Sylvania Halogen when I got the car and the Auxbeam F15 was recommended to me on the Viper pages. It’s a more known brand on Amazon for a cheap ($40) price. Great bulb for the money after running it a year. The GTR lighting Ultra LEDs have consistently tested as the brightest and best options with the 2.0 being around for a few years and the 3.0 releasing just this year. A good improvement in the garage and on the road, but difficult to see the difference in the dash camera footage. They come with a lifetime warranty too. The GTR Ultra 2.0 have a more blue hue, but they are larger and do not fit in the low beam socket. Apparently a common issue on other platforms as well.
The Morimoto XB LED fog lights, (1200 lumens) have been around for a good 6 years or so and longer on other platforms, it is a great looking OEM style set up that provides improved lighting with a good cutoff for around $225.
If you have a 92-02 you’ll need 2003-2010 Viper fog brackets and some H10 connectors, around $220 for those. Part number 05029228AA also used on Chryslers and Jeeps. The part itself says 05029226AB but don’t let that confuse you.
The Morimoto 4Bangers are more of an off-road style light pod that now come with a round bracket to fit OEM spots. They have a less bright NCS option(1300 lumens)($444) and the much brighter HXB option(3000 lumens)($677) and both also come in an amber color for a typical yellow fog light. These tested as nearly 3 times brighter than the XB LED fog lights, however, they look like an off-road light more for a 4runner. Also, apparently prices have jumped $100 or so on both since I got mine 2 months ago. Both of the fog lights have great cut off so you don’t have to worry about blinding anybody.
The lux(not lumen, my bad!) as tested in my garage are below. Keep in mind, I tested it at ~3 feet, I believe most tests are done at 25 feet:
-Sylvania 9005 halogen: 3,216 lux
-Auxbeam F15 9005 LED: 4,373 lux
-GTR Ultra 3.0 9005 LED: 10,510 lux
-Morimoto XB LED Fogs: 4,610 lux
-Morimoto 4BANGER HXB: 14,890 lux
TLDR, I chose the GTR Ultra 3.0 and the XB led fogs. This review is not sponsored.
If anyone is interested, I'm selling my old Auxbeam F15's, Auxito fog led's, and the Morimoto 4Banger HXB's.
