Not a good day, going to dinner, doing 55 on I 66 in N VA, and I go to get in the 3rd lane, and WHAMMMM, I hit the plastic sign off a car that delivers Pizza. It must have just blown off the car.

Damage, the bottom of the splitter (the bottom round section)that is soft plastic was pushed in, and the paint splintered off in big pieces.

So the question is, can that plastic be repainted so it will not show the hit (the platic is not bent or torn). Has anyone used the splitter that TNT sells. It looks like a ad-on to the stock splitter. Also what does the splitter from Autoform run, does anyone have a couple of side shots and front shots. The Autoform site pictures are not the best.

Any help would be great, Also, Any good body shops in N VA,

Thanks
Mark

Sand-yellow colored undercoat showing?...I know that sight all too well, makes me cringe, trouble with metallic paint I find it splinters and flakes off in big chips. I have a half liter *** of paint made up that I just brush on my GTS's lower front fascia, because having to drive narrow bumpy British roads it happens all the time, the front spoiler often chins the road, OUCH. We also have suicidal rabbits and pheasants running out onto the roads, but I'll be look out for Pizza signs too now!

Brushing on paint by hand isn't the best finish, but it's quick cover up for ghastly undercoat showing. A good bodyshop will be able to sand it down and spray it as good as new for you, go on recommendation, or ask to see some of their finished spray jobs first, for quality assurance. My guess is for a good job about $300; that Pizza place sure owes you a few freebies. All the best with getting it sorted.

I would not only ask the pizza guy to fix it....I would ask for Pizza for life!! ;-) Sorry for the mishap but you are very lucky that you hit something with a phone number on it....and last time I checked varmints were not required to carry insurance....hope it works out for you...

You know - with all the road work and housing construction going on in this area, driving can be a bear.... Not to mention most people just dont give a crap if they have things flying off their truck or not...

I know how you feel Jim. Within two weeks of repainting my fascia I hit a 5 gallon bucket (sucked out of a ditch by a passing truck) and a suicidal possum. I scared to think of what's going to happen to my car when I get it back from having the stripes painted on it.
