Has anyone put an Accusump on an SRT-10?

If I recall, Daniel has. Daniel, please comment if you read this. My engine rebuild is now complete. The engine should go back into the car next week. We are anticipating 900 + rwhp. Basically the new engine has a Paxton, 530 ci, all forged internals, balanced, blueprinted, big solid lifter cam, Stage 4 heads, roller rockers, AEM, headers, comp coupe oil pan, etc., etc.

I wonder if hard, extended acceleration - like for one mile or more - with this power level can cause oil starvation?

Does anyone know what the twin turbo cars doing, if anything, to prevent possible oil starvation under sustained acceleration?

Your comments would be appreciated.

I can tell you that my engine should be 1000 plus RWHP and I am putting an accumsump with my installation as well. Sort of a poor mans dry sump. You can bet that hard acceleration might cause short term oil pick up problems. Nothing that I would worry too much about. Trust me...with 900 rwhp you would be accelerating that hard for a mile bubba you'll soil your shorts!

That being said...you paid a boatload for the car and upgrades....its cheap insurance.

Hey womsterr,

Yes. I ran in the 1/2 mile drags last year at the Nevada Open Road Challenge. Accelerating for 1/2 mile with only 750 rwhp was a blast. I plan to have more fun this year with more hp and will run the mile.

I recently had an Accusump installed in my GTS. Works great so far, 3 quart capacity for hard turns, pre-oiling feature, reasonbly priced for the amount of protection it provides.

No soil last year. Might come closer this year.

Sorry it took me so long to see this!

Yes, I have installed Accusumps in SRT-10's with good results. They are great for covering up small hiccups in oi flow, surges from corner transitions, etc.

Unfortunately, the biggest issue with an Accusump is its limited quantity. They are great for drag applications, technical tracks, autocross, etc. But if you are talking about a track with a ONE MILE straight, I would expect some oil starvation at those HP levels. 1000HP should be just short of 2G accelleration for some time, that is enough to pull the oil away from a center pickup and toss it to the back and up near the crank. This is where an accusmp falls short, extended need cases.

Honestly, I dont think many tuners put much emphasis on the oiling system- which is DAMN sad! its like buying a stick of dynamite that somebody already lit!

Lets just say... I am working on it. And I dont stop until its solved. I have just finished designing and testing the be-all end-all of fuel systems, (ideas from which will soon be available... can you say quiet as stock, multispeed, quad filtered, 200 GPH, tandem pump (big/small), failsafe, and starvation IMMUNE?), and the oiling system is now officially on the table for development. I already know what I am going to do, I just have to source the parts and get brackets made.
