Air conditioning Evaporator -- Leaking with only 15,000 miles ***

I was wondering how many other viper owners have had to top up thier Air conditioning more than once. My Viper is a 1998 and the Evaporator is leaking, I have another viper in the shop with the same problem.

Obviously this is the same quality part they use in the Carvans, and intrepids which we replace all the time. I am a little disappointed in the fact they want $1000 cdn for an evaporator that should no leak in that short a period of time. It is not like it is exposed to the elements, just poor quality.

Had the same problem with my 1997 GTS. Took it into Orlando Dodge and they said it was the hoses. Replaced them and a few weeks later.........no AC.........was at Vipermed in Tampa doing my interior replacement, and he diagnosed it as the evaporator. Called up my tech at OD, and he informed me that he will order me one under the extended warranty. Thank goodness!!!!!

Just noticed today mine is not working also on my 98. No telling when it stopped as I don't use it often.

Had two replaced and one condensor in 12,000 miles.

Can they be repaired?

Not the point they should provide better service

I had a bad seal (o-ring) on my Condensor..replaced and OK thus far.

Wasn't trying to make a point, just asking a question for the day I don't have a warranty.

Obviously quality isn't Job 1 but we all knew that when we bought our cars. Not to excuse it, but I find it a reasonable tradeoff given the enjoyment the car provides. Wish it was better built? Sure. Would I accept this level of quality in normal car, no way. That said, D/C has so far resolved every issue to my satisfaction.

I didn't mean to be rude, just I see quality issues everyday with all makes and chrysler has had problems with evaporators for years and made special provisions for carvan owners and should do the same for us

Just got off the the phone with the dealer. With the LHS when they had a problem they gave a 7yr 115,000 km coverage on the evaporator. The Carvan they would help the customer out for 5 yrs 80,000 kms. My car is worth 3 Carvans. I am going to call them maybe some one could contact team Viper see what they will do !!!!!!!!
