Good news and bad news:

Good: Yes I got some new bests and the car was running STRONG. Cool weather in the 40s is awesome.

BUT.....

Bad: Track Prep was non-existent and I was running in to a 18-20mph headwind.

My car hooks better on the street. I had to lift out of every 1-2 shift, one time it was facing the wall and talk about wheel hop.

My car was actually spinning and wheelhopping on some 2-3 shifts - it usually only chirps 2-3 on the street.

Launching was tricky, the car would take no more than 2000rpms off the line.

Anyhow- THE RESULTS

My best run (2000rpm launch, hopped bad on the 1-2 and lifted, spun bad on the 2nd-3rd)
1.899 - 60' NEW BEST
8.036 - 1/8 NEW BEST
92.93 - mph
12.318 - 1/4 NEW BEST
117.48 - mph

My 2nd best run (2000rpm launch, 1-2 hopped bad, lifted 1/2 way and got back in)
1.994 - 60'
8.105 - 1/8
94.10 - mph NEW BEST
12.352 - 1/4
118.52 - mph NEW BEST

My last time out was in July in upper 80 degree temps and high humidity -
that resulted in a [email protected] with a 1.94 60' and a 1/8 of 8.0xx and 91.***. I can't find the slips currently.

Keep in mind the car is STOCK on STOCK RADIALS - I know this car has 11s in it with better traction down the track - at least my 03 Cobra only hopped out of the hole, never on the 1-2 or 2-3 shifts.

Still - my 03 Cobra has the Viper bested with a 7.99 1/8 and a 12.22 1/4 - but at lower mph's.

Until next time,

Howard

Howard send me your e-mail. I have video of your car. That black vette was running hard! Had spray on it.

I wonder if I could have stayed in it how much faster I would have went.

For example, my 1st run of the day I couldn't get it in to 4th, so I pressed the clutch and got it in on the second try - I only ran a [email protected].

Considering all my other runs were 12.31, 12.35, and 12.38, liftingon the 1-2 shift probably cost me at least a tenth or two.

One run was a 12.6, but that is because the car started heading toward the wall on the 1-2 shift.

All runs were granny shifted, so lifting is like lifting twice.

Howard, the track prep was fine. I couldn't get my Viper out of 12s today but it's not because of traction. I ran a best of 12.14 on a 1.83 60'. I got my 850 rwhp to hook up so it couldn't have been bad. That's one of the best-prepped track in the country. They sprayed VHT on both lanes mid-way through the event. Which other track does that?

Paul -

You think the cold weather was just making us produce more power to break loose like that down the track. Or do you think the head wind hurt us or both.

I mean you were 4/10 off your best with a 12.1 compared to an 11.1.

Prep at the line was OK for me to get a 1.89 on a soft launch.

Nice meeting you today BTW,

Howard

Howard, you're right, I don't think the really cold morning weather helped at all. Yes, the cars were running stronger and the track was cold so you may have been losing traction. I was off in e.t. AND mph because of the wind.

Nice meeting you as well. I hope we can do this more often!
