Can someone please tell me if they have had this problem before and maybe how to solve it? Was having some problems with my viper starting so my husband changed the battery and the car locked him out. (Never had that happen before) Is the only way to fix it to take it to the dealership and have it reprogrammed?

Actually there is a place to open the car with the key, it's just not obvious. Look on the drivers door, under the mirror, look up and there is a place to insert the key. It is on the part that goes in, on a horizontal plane, so you cannot see it when standing up.

It may be necessary to push on the door a bit if the key is hard turn. Once inside the car, you should be able to reprogram the security system, the instructions are in the owners manual.

Thank you so much for the info. my husband had an idea that there might be a keyhole but didn't quite look high enough to find it. I had called the viper tech at my local dodge dealership and his only answer was to crawl through the trunk and get it out of gear and have it towed and reprogrammed. Once we got the door open it fired right up no reprogramming needed. I am so happy I joined the club and it has already paid off. Thank you again so much. I enjoy my car tremendously and its nice to know there are others out there who share my enthusiasim. You have a nice club going here thanks for letting me be a part. Will try to upload photos of my "baby" to see what you think. Thanks again.

Here is the proper way to start up a viper after disconnecting/reconnecting the battery.

Have your key in your hand and disconnect the battery. Wait a minute and then reconnectthe battery. The car will go into theft mode and lock down. USE YOUR KEY TO UNLOCK THE DOOR USING THE KEY HOLE UNDER THE DRIVERS DOOR. When the door pops open get into the car and do not touch anything, not even the clutch. Put the key into the ignition and turn it to the on position, DO NOT START THE CAR. After the car cycles thru all the lights will stay lite and the cd player will stop making noises, this ay take a couple of minutes. Turn off the key. Start the car as normal and you should be ok.

Denise, I hope this helps you out,

Robbie

If you want to know if the so called viper tech is for real just ask him how to reactivate a viper after the battery has been removed and also ask him how to burp the cooling system. These 2 things will tell you if he really knows vipers or is just looking to beat on your baby.

Thanks everyone,

Robbie
