I have probably been one of the more assertive defenders of the Gen II Viper and its classic design. However, I noticed a bit of a change in my attitude after viewing the post of FloridaChris on November 29, 2005 that refers to the "Badlands Coupe". Last Saturday, the South Florida chapter of the VCA had a meeting at Fairbanks Dodge. More than thirty Vipers ( Gen I, II, and III) were present. The Badlands Coupe was one of the cars. Among other functions, including an appearance and excellent presentation by Herb Helbig, was a car show with trophies for the winners. After seeing the Badlands Coupe for a few minutes in person, I said to Chris: " You are going to get Best of Show. It is a no brainer." ( I was not one of the judges.) Chris got best of show.
There were other new coupes present but Chris' car stood out. It is lowered 1" in the front and 3/4" in the back which seems to give it just the right stance. The vehicle is spectacular. I am still not in love with the new gauge placement but the refined suspension and Brembo brakes, as Chuck mentioned many posts ago, are very important changes.
I hate to admit it; and, in fact it is painful to admit it, but next to Chris' Viper, the Gen II GTS looked a bit dated.
For those of you who are now forming the obvious question. The answer is "yes", a black SRTC has been ordered.
