Archer Finishes a Competitive Fifth in New Cinjo Viper

Sebring, Florida - In the first race for the Trans-Am Series BFGoodrich Cup, Tommy Archer, driving the number 36 Cinjo Racing/Motor City True Performance/Viper, finished a competitive fifth place.

A fifth place finish is an excellent start for this new team, racing a brand new car in only its sixth day of development. Following a sixth place qualifying effort, Archer started from the third row. When the race began, the cars maintained their qualifying positions. The Viper showed very well through the high-speed corners of 14 and 15 on the back part of the Sebring
circuit.

Throughout the race, the speed of the Viper challenged the leading Mustang. The leader was lapping the circuit in 2:06.712. Archer was driving the Viper at race pace with times in the upper 2:06 range.

With the goal of finishing the race and gathering valuable series points accomplished, the team is leaving Sebring with a long list of items that need to be sorted out before Long Beach.

Quotes after qualifying:
Tommy Archer, driver, #36 Viper: "This is an excellent start for this new team. The car was great through the high-speed combination corners when I could carry a lot of momentum. There is definitely a lot more left in the car. With a little more work, we will have a great race car."

Joe Tranchida, owner, Cinjo Racing: "First time out, we scored points, ran in the top five throughout the whole race and learned a great deal. The team is committed to improving the car. We are going to keep testing right up to Long Beach and look for some sizable improvement. Overall, this has been a very successful weekend for the team."

Finish:
1. Boris Said Mustang
2. Paul Gentilozzi Jaguar
3. Kenny Wilden Corvette
4. Johnny Miller Jaguar
5. Tommy Archer Viper
6. Lou Gigliotti Corvette
7. Brian Simo Qvale
8. Justin Bell Corvette
9. Jim Matthews Qvale
10. Bob Ruman Chevrolet

The next race for the Trans-Am series will be April 8th in Long Beach, California.

Well they may be down 2 cylinders, the bodywork is flared to the max, but thank the Lord that we still have a DC Snake out there competing against the World's marques in Trans Am. Everyone at Woodhouse Chrysler,Dodge, & Jeep extends their best wishes to Cinjo Racing and Tommy Archer. Great move to sign Tommy, as he is not only an extremely talented driver, he has the charisma, poise, and demeanor characteristic of racers during the sixties. Very open with the press and humble to the fans, but Mr. Hyde when he gets behind the wheel. Miss Cleo says the cards predict the Archer is in his house , and the competition will be Tommyhawked into submission. Bullseye to Cinjo for signing such a class act!!
