Has anyone recently traded their GTS for an 06 coupe? Happy? Regrets? Anyone else on the fence...?

thanks,

I would wait for the official debut of the 08. Then if you do not like the 08, which should come with a good bump in power, pickup a 06 off a lot. Someone is bound to have one left over..... You may even get a lower price if the 08 makes a splash and the 06s undesirable due to the 08 poplularity.

There things you'll miss about the Gen II, but more things you'll love about the Gen III.

Bottom line, you won't regret it. IMO

If you want a Gen III, I don't think I'd trade a GTS. You'll get less than your GTS is worth, and you'll be buying a car that is still depreciating. I'd sell the GTS outright, and then force a good deal on a Gen III. Well, actually I wouldn't do that ... But you gotta drive the car you want!

I traded my 2001 GTS three weeks ago for a SRTC.

I am very happy with the move. I briefly thought about a z06 but decided on the Coupe. A split second better in 0-60 was not enough to offset some things I really liked better about the Viper. Specifically, better interior(people probably think I'm crazy, but I like the Viper interior better than the C6), Coupe styling hands down, side exhaust is very cool and it came in GTS Blue!

I am not a racer so my appreciation for the coupe is the styling, build quality, and driving experience.

1)I think the styling is great. Not as wild or balanced as the GTS, but more modern and still gets plenty of looks.

2)Build quality - I think both cars build quality were excellent. The 06 interior is years ahead of the GTS(I guess it should be since it was designed years later!). I find it more comfortable and the stereo is much better.

3)Driving Experience - Definitely more refined and more enjoyable on longer drives.

Regrets - None, I always loved the Bright Blue GTS color or Nassau Blue on my corvettes so when the Coupe was available in GTS Blue that helped me make my mind up.

Good luck.

sell your GTS yourself and buy a "used" SRT coupe that someone put 1000 miles on and changed their mind, probably save you $20,000+

I agree. I paid $65k for an 05 with 3k miles.

Looking forward 15 years, I think I'd really regret selling the GTS. I have a cz06 arriving in 1.5 weeks, so I'll probably keep the GTS, grab that and have fun with it for a year. Given the demand for the Z, I'll consider selling at the end of the season for same price and maybe consider a coupe next year... The dealer I'm buying my z06 from, at sticker, has 403 people, with $1000 deposits, waiting for a c6z.

Have you considered the cost of maintaining the GTS over 15 years? Chrysler's obligation to make parts for the GTS expires in 2009.

Having both I can speak from experience. Although I love my 2 GTS's I must say that the SRTC is a better car all around and it gets just as much attention as the other 2. The interior of the GTS seems dated by comparison. The SRTC seats with the exteme side bolsters are the biggest improvement. The rear hatch is also a great improvement albeit a heavy piece. It is a much tighter driving experience. It used to be that when I went to the garage to go for a spin I headed for the '96 GTS. Now the SRTC gets at least as much, if not more, of my attention. I'm liking the styling more each day.
