Changing the fluids in the tranny and diff this weekend. So I went to the dealer, with my shop manual and got the goods. The service guy asked me if it was a manual or auto tranny...no joke.

So I want to double check if what I paid for makes some sense; I am thinking maybe he entered the wrong code(s).

Diff add: $7,25
Tranny fluid: $18,80 (4)
Diff fluid: $26,80 (2)
spark plugs: $3,65 each (RC12LYC)

total: 172,55 + 25,93 (tax...yes that is 15% kids) = $198,48

I am not complaining, just don't like to pay more than necessary.

p.s. these prices are Canadian; so figure $172,55/1,38 = $125 US

Not sure about your other prices but I know those sparkplugs go for $1 or less (US funds). I use the same ones in lawnmowers at work.

I've noticed that little things such as plugs and bulbs tend to carry the fattest markups at dealerships. Chrysler dealership wanted $24 for a plan ol 9007 headlight that I got next door at Pep Boys for $7.

How come Dodge opted for such a low tec plug as the "lawnmower" Champions? Not even copper let alone platinum!

because there were skids of them left over in the plant when they moved to CAAP!

Seriously, the engine is pretty low-tech, anything else would be overkill.

thanks for the responses guys...

It just confirms to me why I like this board so much. Everybody is a straight shooter, and shares what they think. Doesn't get much better than this.

Confirmed - the spark plug price was high, but everything else looks about right. I suggest checking with Parts Rack next time you're buying OEM parts, however...
