This is where we're compiling lists of discontinued OEM parts. They're organized in 4 categories...

-Engine & Accessories
-Drivetrain
-Chassis & Suspension
-Interior & Exterior

Discontinued parts submitted are listed on spreadsheets for each category on the 4 pages below, last updated on May 6. Please post them below or by email providing description, part numbers and any other pertinent comments. You'll find exploded parts diagrams for all years to help identify part numbers at www.oemopar.com.

Many OEM, aftermarket and some rebuilt Viper parts are available at any given time from those listed on our Viper Parts Vendor Directory. But inventories fluctuate and we ask our vendors who have any of these listed parts to let us know so we can focus on those parts that aren't as readily and reliably available.

Needed parts will be regularly reviewed with the Stellantis-Mopar team, and discussed with those suppliers who reach out with interest in producing some of these listed parts and others not yet listed.

Please post your submissions below if possible, otherwise email them to Stephen at [email protected]. Kindly check the spreadsheets first to see if the part has already been included. Thank you in advance for your help in identifying discontinued Viper parts to have produced!

Please see all other related parts of this initiative, including the Viper Parts Vendor Directory, at https://www.viperclub.org/vca/categories/viper-parts-service-resources.254/

Gen 3/4 Key Blank (with viper logo) is NLA -- 05102103AA

I was able to get a key copy from Minute Key (minutekey.com) from a local Walmart and it has worked perfectly, it just has a generic key blank. They copied my key from a self service kiosk and shipped it to me in a couple days.

If I can find a suitable similar black "blank", I should be able to engrave the Viper logo on them, or any other key blank for that matter.

Some Parts we are already reproducing, or refurbishing,

Gen 1/2/3/4/5
Water Pumps
Heater / radiator hoses
Radiators
Heater Cores
Plug wires
Window Regulators ( being rebuilt by another company but they solve all the plastic problems and provide a lifetime warranty on what was repaired.)
Valve cover refinishing
Differential rebuilding
Alternators rebuilding
We have all the parts to rebuild the suspensions on all generations
Gen 3/4 Door trim pieces
Gen 3 PS line kits
Gen 2 Creampuff short blocks
Gen 2 Fuel level sending units
Rebuilding gen 1/2/3/4/5 Fuel pump assemblies
Oil Cooler lines gen 3/4/5

Fortunately in most situations if we cant find the part there are a lot of ways to refinish it, reproduce it or repair it.

Parts Other companies have been working on
Door stanchions Gen 1/2
Plastic door trims
Gen 1 Throttle cable clip

Part NEEDS that we will see in the future
Timing covers, while not needed often there is a need.
PCM's Typically can be repaired but would be nice if there was a way to reproduce
Windshields to match factory. Aftermarket is an option
Viper specific sensors Cam, crank, or let us know what they can cross over to.
Gen 4/5 Halfshafts
Gen 5 Metal throttle bodies, (plastics seem to have some issues)
Weather striping for all generations
Front and rear hubs no longer produced and cant always source.
Gen 5 Rear diffs
Gen 2/3/4/5 Door latch mechanism. I was working with the original supplier to just get the internal switch for the gen 5 door handles but even with me ordering 800 switches they wont produce them.
Body parts, Gen 5 bumpers have become impossible to find.
Side Sills
Gen 2 Airbags
Throttle Cables
Coolant over flow bottles (we have made them in metal but for stock look it would be nice to have)
Gen 2 Oxygen sensors (Bosche ones wont work)
Front Wheel bearing Stud, and Nut for gen 2/3/4/5
Door panels for all generations
Gen 2 Hood latch cables
Gen 2 EEM Modules
Gen 3/4 Fender grills

Companies we work with
P1 Garage
Prefix
Temple Performance
Nth Moto
Calvo Motorsports
Brian Jones Auto INC
Don Scharf
X2 Builders

Already can, for any version. It is however, currently not financially viable to do so while there are sufficient available repairable cores floating in the market.

But that said, if someone [theoretically] wanted something unobtanium built that there was no repairable core for... no problem. That will soon be even easier as I am in the middle of a negotiation for a number of brand new, long since unavailable board components that will extend out the ability to repair/reproduce for the foreseeable future.

Also of note, another thing I am planning to offer is replacement internal valve cover baffle plates for all generations. These are cracked so often its scary... and if you are reconditioning valve covers, this may be useful to you guys. Also planned to make variations of them that are cut out for adjustable rocker nut clearance.

The Gen 5 steering wheel air bag assembly that also includes the horn pad has been on back order for two years with no fill date. The problem seems to be the air bag feature works however the horn does not work when pressing the center of the steering wheel.

You guys are doing so much to help the community. I do have one small concern though. You say you have these parts. Other reputable shops say they cannot be had, such as suspension bushings for Gen 1. I don't want to affect your business. I've been on the receiving end of that myself. I also don't want to be left with zero source when something happens to your shop (divorce, crooked partner, tornado, etc). Do you have old stock, are you able to get new, are you making these yourself?

Ultimately, I am curious about those process as I want approval for somebody to make parts now AND in the future. If we say we don't need a critical part now because somebody has the., and that supplier is gone tomorrow, what then?
Finally,do you have all your parts inventory listed on your website? If so, I may buy spares.

Thanks

Dick,
This Viper Parts Initiative is dealing directly with your general core concern...the reality of parts being available today that may not be in the future from the past or existing sources. It's not a hypothetical, it's a reality.
Each part listed as being needed is being checked against vendor's inventories/quantities, checked for cross-referenced availability, and major automotive distributor availability. We'll anticipate future needs as inventories deplete, prioritize getting parts we need into production, add and switch suppliers as needed, and continue the process for years.
Buying spares now would address any and all uncertainties for sure!

May 30th Update:
We've compiled a comprehensive list of discontinued parts, more than what appears in the posts above. Thank you to all who contributed.
Our community vendors are reviewing those now to determine if any of them have inventory of these needed parts, and to determine which parts they might be interested in producing.
Once this review is complete we'll connect the vendors with Mopar. Our vendors have already expressed great interest in producing many of these needed parts...and the future looks better than ever!

Who has the latest firmware for the boards?

Part NEEDS that we will see in the future
Gen 4/5 Halfshafts
Gen 5 Metal throttle bodies, (plastics seem to have some issues)
Gen 5 Rear diffs
Additional comments on the parts listed above (I pared down Havik's list):

Gen 4 Axles:
- If reproduced, these need to be the "double h-u-m-p" solid shaft versions, not the crappy hollow shaft ones that came in Gen 3s and some Gen 4s (like mine).
- In addition to the axles, stubs (or differential output stub shafts - Mopar calls them "Axle Intermediate Shafts") will also be needed

Gen 5 Axles:
- If someone will only produce either the Gen 4 or Gen 5 axles, produce the Gen 5 ones
- Same as above; output stubs will also be needed
- Anecdote: I swapped to Gen 5 axles a few years ago in my '08 Gen 4 (back when you could still find Gen 5 axles on Ebay). The Gen 5 6-bolt flange differential output stubs are backward compatible with Gen 4 cars since the '08-'17 cars use the same limited slip unit. The output stubs are two different lengths - a short one for the driver (left) side, and a longer one on the passenger (right) side. You can still pretty easily find the shorter ones (68203473AA), but the longer ones (68203472AB) have been unobtanium for years. Why? Because two longer ones were required to run a Wavetrac (but they had to be machined down to work with it), so my guess is that shops bought up all of the spares to do just that. Without both stubs, the easy swap to Gen 5 axles is no longer an option for the Gen 4 guys.

Gen 5 Metal Throttle Bodies:
- These came in the 2015-2017 Vipers, but are the same throttle bodies that are used on the Pentastar V6 engines. Those were (and probably still are) easy to source on Ebay.
- I know of some Gen 4 guys that are also having issues with the plastic throttle bodies that came in 2008-2010 and 2013-2014 Vipers - if the solution ends up being swapping to the metal throttle bodies, someone would also do well to produce quality adapter harnesses to make that swap easier.

Gen 5 Rear Diffs:
- If the housings get reproduced, please make sure it is the casting with more meat where the pinion bearing gets pressed in. I don't know when that change happened, but the Gen 5 housing I bought many years ago had noticeably more aluminum in that area of the casting than my original Gen 4 housing. Just make sure when they do the final machining that there's enough of a lip around the bearing race so you can actually get it out (that's a story I told years ago, but is lost in the archives somewhere).
