What would cause water to drip inside the car on the passenger side footwell? I believe it is water from the A/C condenser. There is no odor like antifreeze. What should I check for? Its a 97GTS.

Don't know about the Gen2's but I had similar problem with my 94. Is the water leaking in under the carpets? Run the car with the A/C on for awhile then look up under the passenger side of the dash. You may have to pull the carpet down. There was a plug or something on mine that was allowing the condensation to run inside the car. Put some silicon on it and cleaned the drain tube and all was well.

My passengers side carpet gets wet every time I wash the car. Does yours get wet during driving, or only when you wash or expose (eek!) to rain? I think I'm going to have to pull the carpet away from the kick-panel on the passenger side and have someone spray with a hose to find my issue. Good luck!

I think condensation can build up behind the dash somewhere, I've seen it before. Only happened when I had the A/C on for an extended period of time.

Is there a fix for this, or is it just something that happens on those really hot ****** days?

Condensation can build up due to the HVAC housing located on the passenger side of the cockpit underneath the air bag. The HVAC housing is behind a steel plate and held in place by 4 bolts, 2 in the engine compartment, 2 in the passenger compartment. I would recommend that you buy the Daimler Chrysler service manual for your year. It has excellent information. Be warned, work on the HVAC housing can require a large amount of materials to be removed to get at the box. The fix can be extensive, but worth it.

All car A/C systems have a condensate drain - don't seal it up unless you like the smell of mildew from your A/C. There should be a tube from the A/C evaporator housing to drain the water condensed from the evaporator and route it outside the car. If its dripping on people's feet, my first check would be to see where the tube went - its likely just become disconnected and is lying under the carpet.

Also, for the car wash wet rug sydrome, check the duckbilled rubber drain valve under the airbox behind the A/C Dryer, (the aluminum canister behind the passenger tire with the sight glass). They can stick shut and if so will allow water to enter the passenger footwell area when water enters the hood air vent.

I believe it is water from the A/C condenser.
Technically, the A/C "condenser" is up front next to the radiator - the evaporator is what you are thinking of that is in the passenger compartment.

On my 95 I ran a long little zip tie up the rubber drain to clean it out , it flexes and cleared out all the gunk and then water poured out. It stopped the overflow into the pass. footwell for me.

Do you park your car on an incline? I ask 'cause my father had a similar prob. because his driveway has an incline. The a/c condensation wouldn't drain because of this and he ended up with stink-conditioning, though it wasn't draining on the floor like it would in a V.

Thanks for the replys. I have checked the drain hose from the evaporator. It was connected and in place and not clogged. I also checked the drain vent under the blower motor, that was in good order as well. Is it possible that it was just too hot/humid and the diference in temp from the a/c and the heat from the engine/headers/exhaust caused condensation inside the car on the a/c vents/ducts?

Front window seal leak. Only fix is to pull window and reseal. Very common and can go un noticed since most cars are never driven in the rain.
