Issues with starting but not running

I need some help diagnosing a problem I'm having all of a sudden.
I drove the car yesterday and filled up with gas with no problems.
I got in the car today, drove to a friend's house (about 3mi) to pick him up and turned off the car. We got back in less than 1min later and tried to start the car. It turned over and started immediately but then died just as quick.
It will do this everytime, no matter if I wait 30min. or 3sec.
I can hold the throttle down and get it to rev up to 3-4Krpms but then it just dies again within a couple seconds.

I have checked fuel press. and it is good.
I have checked fuses and they are good.
The battery is about 3-4yrs old.
The starter is strong and it fires right up, just won't stay running.

Stuck IAC? And can we assume the 3-4K then it dies is it will stay at 3-4K as long as you keep your foot on it, and then it dies quickly?

nope, just revs to 3-4K and dies there
so I have ruled out IAC

It was the alarm function in my Dakota truck that did the identical thing...

Sync the alarm. Have the key fob next to the car, hold both buttons daon until the car alarm chirps. Then set the alarm and then dis-arm it.

yep, it was just the alarm
not sure what triggered it but its running fine now
