Jon B and the \"Canadian\" Viper

Kudos to Jon B for discovering an interesting fact about my Viper. During a discussion regarding engine temperature, I noted that the engine in my '94 RT/10 generally runs at about 90 degrees. Jon seemed confused by my statement and asked me where my drivers-side seat belt is located. I replied by stating that "I pull it from the center of the car, of course". After a few more Q & A's it was concluded that I have a "Canadian" Viper with host of interesting features including a temperature gauge that measures in Celsius. Just curious ... how many people reading this BB have Vipers that were made in Canada?

Re: Jon B and the \"Canadian\" Viper

I ordered mine (1998 Silver RT/10) with Canadian specifications so that I can bring it back to Canada when I retire....

Re: Jon B and the \"Canadian\" Viper

I think you misunderstood Jon a bit. No Vipers were made IN Canada. Your Viper was made along side all other 94 Vipers on Mack Avenue in Detroit. It was made FOR Canadian importation. At some time, it was imported (deported?) from Canada back to the US. Perhaps the owner moved? Or someone could have been taking advantage of a favorable dollar to hoser exchange rate?

I don't know if there are any warrantee or other implications of this, but I would do some quick research if I were you. For one thing, if your odometer doesn't still read in kilometers, it may not be the original odometer for that car, and may not reflect the true mileage. In Maryland, you have to indicate on the title if the odometer is an accurate measure of the true mileage. Is that the case in Georgia? You may have an issue selling the car if you don't know the true mileage.

Re: Jon B and the \"Canadian\" Viper

Thanks Andy. You are correct in pointing out my error. I misquoted Jon B because he simply noted that my car was owned by someone in Canada and, as a result, had the features referenced in my post.
