Hi all this is my first post so please help!
I am looking at a 97 Viper gts b/w on autotrader which has been worked on by 'elite motorsport' mods include stage 2 cylinder heads, upgraded camshaft along with 1.7 ratio T&D roller rockers. Edelbrock Headers. 3" complete exhaust system. Smooth tubes/K&N filters upgraded plug wires. Elite side gills along with upgraded interior.
Now i have done a search on 'elite motorsport' so i am aware of his (Scott's) honesty problems! Do you guys think i should turn this one down because they (scott at elite) did the work on it?

The thing is it is just the kind of Viper i have been looking for but would like to know if you all think it is a bit of a gamble?
Also they claim 650 bhp, is this feasible?

Your thoughts would be much appreciated

ALL OVER
at least ya used the search button and know a bit about elite motorsports..

but i wouldnt let it stop me from buying one of the cars he worked on. it would make me a little more carefull though in the buying process as far as inspection goes.

GET A REAL TUNER or TECH to go over the car completely/ its gonna cost ya a few bucks, but if you dont do it, it could cost you a whole lot more later.

where ya located ???

Check very close for leaks in the Edelbrock headers. The mid-flanges have a nasty habit of warping so they will no longer hold a gasket. If they ever warped then were repaired by regrinding them flat it will not happen again, but five tubes torquing on those flanges in five different directions at that heat is hard to control the first time around. If you can look at the car while it is cold, you should be able to run your fingers around the mid-flanges and feel any blatent warpage problems by feeling the size of the gap between the flanges change as you slide your finger along.

Thanks guys, i will definitely be doing all these things before i part with any money.

I actually live in Scotland and am Importing the car, which obviously makes things alot more difficult.
We moved here from the US a good 16 years back when my dad retired from the US marines.

I have a guy in 'Orlando Lakeland' who is doing all the leg work for me (going to see the car ect..) but is there a viper specialist in this area or within a reasonable drive that you guys would recommend i take the car to to be checked over?

Thank you for all your help with this as i only have knowledge on Vipers from what i read which can not be compared to owning one and living with it day in day out.

Any and all views would be appreciated.

Does anyone have a Gen 2 viper with similar mods? If so what kind of power do you get at the wheels?
Just so when i get it dynoed next week i know what i should be looking for?

Just thought i would let you all know i decided it was to risky to bring this car over to the UK so i pull out of the deal.
I am still hopeful to have my Viper for the summer

Thanks for all your input, it was a big help.
