Don;t know if this is a repost but the latest edition of Motor Trend compares the Viper- SRT-10 Coupe, Z06 and the GT 500 Ford Shelby.
The Viper posted the fastest lap time just edging the Z06 by a very small margin. 1/4 mile was taken by the Vette 0-60 in 3.8 secs and 1/4 mile in 11.7 @ 125mph while the Viper 0-60 in 3.9 secs , 1/4 mile in 12.1 @ 121 mph. Additional weight of the Viper was certainly a factor but not on the lap times. Lap times were Viper in at 1.01.15 while the Vetter @ 1.01.17 rounded.
Comments " Brilliant on track " / " Easiest of the three to launch, easier to push hard than the Vette, particulary impressive given the fact that the Viper chassis has no electonic stability control" . In a single world the Viper has more " GRIP " then the Vette. "The Vette can pull .97 g in the corners while the Viper 1.02 G".
Bet comment was " all of the above exposes the Viper for what it really is ; a thinly disguised race car with a radio and turn signals for street use ".
They were extremely impressed by the race abilities of the car, but gave it a thumbs down to daily use with the Vette taking first and the GT 500 second.
