Okay, yesterday was soooo nice in Dallas (sunny and about 70). Decided to take the snake out for a leisurely drive. About 10 minutes into the drive I noticed a Dallas police officer pull behind me. At the next light he pulled beside me and said "How are you doing Kurt"? Well, not know who he was, but he obvisouly knew my name kind of freaked me out a little!! He was super nice and complimented the Viper several times. I ask if he ran the plate and he said "yes, I just had to find out what year the Viper was". Glad my record is super clean

Overall, a very pleasent experience with the officer. I wanted to invited him for a closer look, but the light turned green. I have never been stoped in the Viper, but if I am, hopefully it will be this guy

True story.Check this out. The other night I left the shop around 9:30. Turbo Mitsi Eclipse started messing with me. We caught a stretch of uphill, right turn road.(5 lanes, no traffic) Ran 'em through 1st, 2nd and third. Car wouldn't hook with cold tires so he handed me my lunch. Caught a light. No traffic ahead, but cross traffic at the light. Took off from the light, he stayed with me in first but I soon left him. He had no chance in round two. He turned off about 1/2 mile down road. Right away I noticed headlights approching in my mirror at a rapid pace. You know your in trouble when it's Crown Victoria on your bumper. Pulled me over. Boy was he mad! "Do you know the fine for exhibition of speed? It's gonna' cost you $700.00, I'm gonna' impound the car and it's gonna' cost you a grand to get it out. I was sitting at the light and saw the whole thing. I saw the guy turn off but I saw that you were going faster. I had to run 80 to catch you.I explained to the officer that I was a Viper tech and that my car had a running problem I was sorting out. Luckely I had the data recorder in the car! Gave him a business card and licsense. Told him my record was spotless and what I did was stupid. Told him I'd never do it again, etc. Begged for mercy more or less. He handed me my licsense and said " Merry ******* Christmas, slow the *%@* down!" He was a bit upset with me. Of course I thanked him. I drove off quietley without a ticket. I couldn't believe it. I've probably cursed myself by writing this! Moral of the story, there is a time and a place for everything. Don't street race unless conditions are safe(it was). Don't street race if there is a Sherrif's sub station in your 'hood(I forgot).
Don't street race on cold tires, so you can deal the beating the first time!dj

No Dave, moral of the story is "don't get your AS* handed to by a Mitsubishi the first time" then you wouldn't have needed to redeem yourself the second time. Just curious, was it Ken Adelberg's car? Because that would explain it. That car always has a hard time winning anything.

No, actually I was in your car! 392 rwhp? Should have Adelberg's car as bad as I was driving! I was in the roadster. First I got my a** handed to me and then I got it chewed off! I've tangled with the imports before, and let me tell you, this one was just nasty. Ton of boost. dj

ieatvetts, does your car spin the tires after sitting for 14 hrs. and then driving for only 2 miles? if it doesn't, then you better buy some hp. my car spins in 3rd gear when cold. i guess we just make more power out here. it's not uncommon to have a 11 second import out here. i could hear his obviously oversized turbo spooling up over my catless exhaust. i know just a "little bit" about making power. this car was quick. he took me in the first round, but after my tires warmed from my 100' burn out, i beat him. i'm not embarassed about it at all. unlike some people, i admit when i get spanked. you beat me once shame on you, you beat me twice, shame on me. you won't beat me twice! stay in ny where you can out run some guy in his mom's honda accord! come out here and expect a race.dj
