Hey guys,

I installed a new Kenwood Head Unit and added a Matrix Plus to my sound system. Here are some pics & details.

Here's the Head Unit. I had a really nice old Pioneer in there but it wouldn't play from a USB. It just sold on EBAY for almost twice what it cost me to do all the upgrades, so that was a nice blessing.

The two amps are old school Punch 200's, one for the front door speakers, and the other for the Sub. The front doors are some old MB Quarts that were super high-end when they were installed about 23 years ago. Can't see them so no pictures but they still sound great. Car Toys did the original install of the amps, sub, and front door speakers, and they actually did a pretty clean job. I just installed the Matrix Plus. (Not quite as clean, but pretty OK) Used four small 2" x 2" x about 3/4" blocks of wood painted black at each corner. Mounted the Matrix to those and then used short screws at the top left & bottom right, and small Velcro squares at the top right & bottom left. Thanks to Efnfast, who supplied me with a great picture of what was behind the front panel, so no worries about the short screws hitting gas tank or anything else. The Matrix is an amazing pre-amp, the gains on both amps are literally at the minimums, all the way down and the system still pounds and it's crystal clear. Wish I could get the amp fins cleaner, that old dust is pretty stubborn. I didn't tackle installing a remote bass knob, it seems like running the wire from the trunk up to the head would be a bear, but perhaps sometime in the future, I'll give it a go.

Here's the circuit breaker & distribution blocks, also originally done by Car Toys 23 years ago. I am in the process of installing a battery cut off switch as well. One done, I'll post some pics & details on the install and also exact cable lengths & specs.

Here's the Custom built T-Panel that houses a high end JL Audio backwards-firing 10" Sub, this was also done by Car Toys 23 years ago. I still have a small glove box with a pop-off panel and the sub location is really nice.

That is a pretty cool setup. Lot's of wires, anything done to the engine? Twin turbo?
