Hi to all! I am considering a 2001 GTS coupe in the near future. But after hearing and reading about the 2003 Gen 3 Viper with 500- 550 HP, I am not sure of my direction. Is there any solid info out as of yet, or just rumors? This sort of thing reminds me of the ZO6 introduction. I have 2 vettes and a C-5. Since I've caught the Viper bug, I knew it was time to come over and check the Viper forum out for the facts. Like I did on the Corvette forum before I got my C-5. Gee, my hardest decision is Viper colors...Red with stripes, steel gray with stripes, or the new Blue, with silver stripes...decisions, decisions. I am anxiously waiting for this weather to get better, cause I have a date with a 97 GTS with 12,000 miles for a test ride! Dealer said that I can have fun with the car. My C-5 has 335 rwhp. Can anybody tell me how much more seat of the pants there is to the Viper? PS. I really appreciated the post by ab on his impression of the Corvette Forum!

Where's Shavertown PA? I am in Pittsburgh, and have met a lot of great Viper owners around here.

About your question: I believe the first couple of years of production for the Gen 3 will be RT/10's (Removable top), and if you plan on owning a GTS, your best bet would be to buy an 01.

I am 10 miles south from Wilkes Barre, and 30 miles from Scranton. N.E. Pa. Probably 4 hours from Pittsburg. Thanks for the tip on the GTS. I just thought that both GTS and RT/10 were going to be produced for 2003. I would like to see Sapphire Blue with silver stripes. No luck as of yet. Looking forward to driving and owning a Viper!

380-390RWHP? Uhh, maybe if there's something wrong with it. My GTS with smooth tubes and K&N's made 415RHWP and 462RWTQ. The Vettes do about 310RWHP stock and not much more than that in HP.

The Viper has a good 100RWHP on a the Vette, and more than 100RWTQ. It's the torque that you feel. The Viper pulls like nothing else on the planet. The difference in feel between the Viper and Vette is beyond description.

The Viper feels a lot faster than the Vette than it actually is, but it actually is quite a lot faster too

If you drive one, you will understand. Make sure it's pointed straight when you hit it in 1st or 2nd. 2nd gear can only be described as *violent!*
