just happened to be in town and I gave Gerald a call. He was kind enough to take me for a ride and even let me drive his Dlm stage II car  Holy crap that **** pulls hard  I am now suing his *** for whip lash lol. shot a cool video that's up on the alley. I wish that was my car so I could have banged those gears harder :D Yo Gerald thanx for the Southern hospitality bro, next time drinks on me in NY :)

I hear sooo much about Gerald's car. Saw post on the alley, but couldn't open it. Is there that much of a SOTP difference in a supercharged car? Am I going to be blown away with the difference? All this supercharger talk is making me crazy. I am so close to selling the vette for the SC!!

You're kidding, right? :D It is night and day. My wife's SRT-10 feels slow by comparison... sort of like driving an Acura RSX after driving a Viper.

Trey, I know there is a difference, just trying to get a concrete comparison. If you are serious about the comparison between an RSX and a Viper I understand. Just love to hear about the descriptions that everyone gives after they take a ride like that out. No probs with the mod on your 01 I guess...?

a more concrete comparison would be getting into a fender bender(stock viper) and getting T-boned by a Mack truck doing a buck fifty (blown viper) Once that boost comes on for the first time you dont know what the hell hit ya :p I wish it was my car so I could have really got on it :D

Michael - I am serious about the comparison between the Viper and RSX. Consider: RSX = 2900 lbs, 200 HP. Viper = 3450 lbs, 450 HP. SC Viper = 3500 lbs, 900 HP (or more). The ratios are pretty much the same

Gerald took me for a quick cruise in his car in between uhhhhhhh songs, and it is unreal. Nothing remotely near a stock Viper, I was truly concerned about the car getting sideways on the gear changes up into 4th, which is something. Running Michelins at the time, looks like things are much better with the Kumhos eh Gerald??

Big difference! Starting at 70mph and then "nailing" it is like being shot out of a cannon. You're going 150mph in just a few seconds!

Be sure and buy better tires/wheels (lots of extra rear tires)...

Wow Mike - you are a lucky guy!

Yeah..... I'm jealous! :p

Geralds DLM car is one of the best combo's in all Viperland - runs with the top superbikes and then gets 22mpg on the interstate, pulls like a freight train at any time on demand, but drives civilly to work everyday and apart from one belt issue - never broken down in 30,000 miles! In my view thats as good as it gets on 4 wheels. Good on you Gerald - what a machine! :D

lol - now THAT is a great description. 900hp is hard to get your head around, but we can visualise that

Executron,
I saw pictures of your car and it is amazing  ! Doug said it pulls real strong and he enjoyed building that master piece for you. I was told the pictures don't do justice. Have you had any good races? Probably no one wants to play with that snake :D

Y'know I'd take offense to that if I would have taken her to the prom like she wanted me to. Maybe next year...if she's still around.

Hey Moundir How did you like the ride Doug gave you in my Car?

Rob
Man that thing ran a rapped ape  First time in my life that I grabed for the door handle while being driven around (expect when girls or women drive) The best part was the sound of the blower and the very mild lump in the cam  Dude it's going to be an animal once he is starts tunning it  Gotta get some sticky tires for it btw ;) Thanx for letting Doug take me for a ride in your car Rob. He is a maniac, but knows how to drive these beasts extremly well :D

Mike, I know what you mean, man. When I was at West Coast Vipers a few weeks ago, they had just finished up a 600 package, which I was considering at the time, so John asked if I wanted to go for a ride. Just like you, first time I was trying to reach for something to hold onto, while he drove/raced. Was scary shiat! I wasn't so much scared of the acceleartion, but more of the acceleration while going into a slight bend in the road. I kept thinking to myself, "THis car is going to spin out and fly into a curb!" But the beast stuck and when we were done, I could only compliment his work by saying, "Gawd Dyamn, John!" :)

Thanks!

I've eaten every Corvette in town (my main goal). I had to get better tires (Kumhos) to start beating bikes, and I mean ALL bikes. I haven't lost yet on the open road. That's the trick to racing a Viper. The Quarter-Mile is not our place. Give us half a mile or more and we can remain undefeated!

u guys have absolutely no idea how fast your cars will be. They will run CIRCLES around my old technology DLM stage II.... CIRCLES!

It's not peak HP, it's where the TQ hits at. My TQ doesn't really come in all that early but imagine have 800+rwtq/rwhp at only 3-3.5k RPM! Better buy some good tires. you'll need it!!!! That will be about 100-150 more HP than mine at those RPMS, available all the time, anytime.

800rwtq from the low 3k rpms?  You guys are going to need diapers trying to tame that - that's stompin torque that low in the range - it'll let rip instantly...

I agree, the Viper even with some of your guys power numbers still doesn't pull of times that cars like a Mustang can do with way less power. The suspension especially doesn't allow good weight transfer.

But with the mph some of you are trapping at, I'd say run basically anything in half a mile or hell even a full mile and besides some cars mainly built for dragging, I think there isn't much that'll come close to you guys....especially the ones with 800rwhp or more.

Man that has got to be sick, considering how fast a stock Viper can pull, I'm trying to imagine a Viper with 400-500rwhp over stock and how hard that would pull

Crap, can you guys even breathe going full throttle with a torque band like that lol, the fastest car I've been in was a friend of my mom's with a modified Ruf turbo 996 putting out about 700hp and the top end was seriously insane at full boost and blurred your vision, but geez, how would an 8.0 V10 monster with 900rwhp feel like?

Fast - like Executron said - "nail it at 70mph and it's like being shot out of a canon." Nail it in 1st or second and see the redline as quick as your foot went down... and pray your are still pointing straight ahead - cause when you notice you aren't - its already too late. That's why these cars need mature drivers that have the discipline to feed the throttle in as the car can cope with it.

The 1/4 mile is not for the serious road warriors - to make the best drag car you get a pig street car. I agree that the half mile to 1 mile is the best way to compare the high horsepower cars - I prefer the flying mile where you get a run up. The top cars are no better than stock in first as they just can't use it - so a run up eliminates that problem and allows the cars to hit the start line at a speed they can punch it hard - say 70-100mph.
