I live in Australia and the Viper isn't the most common car down under to say the least (possibly 25 in all Australia) so when i see one at a motorshow, car race, Grand Prix or so i do my best to take a billion pix and try to run my Viper web site best possible ( http://dive.to/300kph - huge update soon). I did get to work on a Viper for work experience at a place called VIPERformance down here that do SVS modds and RHD conversions (see my web site on the pictures page).

Anyway, my good friend N-ersha from the supercars.net msgboard gave me this info about an Aussie kit car Dodge Viper made from GM, vettes and our own Australian Commodore parts. I thought you guys would like to have a look at this rather close kit. Heres the info...

8 litre 550hp big block V8
12 sec 1/4 mile

Built by Greg Rumney (maker of 'Shark Cat' boats in Tazmania) and 3 others unnamed, Gold Coast Qld

>From the real Viper: steering rack, self leveling head lights and 17 inch alloy wheels

Created from a 1:18 scale model and every photograph Greg could get his hands on and a close association with a rented Viper during a trip to Hawaii.

Other stuff: Roll bar molder in around windscreen and in targa style bar behind the seats. Tail lights from a Mitsubishi Lancer, front Viper Defender (TV show Viper) style grill, side
pipes are dummies(i think their illegal here) Underneath holding up the main mechanical bits is a fabricated ladder-style perimeter chassis in rectangular tube steel complete with stiffening box center section. Copied straight off the factory car, with in-build variations to suit his Chev and Jaguar based suspension.

Transmition:Borg Warner T56 six speed cogswapper which will drive back to an independant rear end.9 inch Ford center section, C&C milled alloy forward contorl arms. Front suspension from Corvette ZR1, all round Brembo disk brakes, and various Holden pieces including a Commodore tilt steering column.

Price AUS$140,000...that's about it.

Not a bad lookin Viper for a kit car huh! probably just as fast as a stock Dodge Viper aswell! Here are the pictures from the post i did on the Supercars.net msgboard, Enjoy!
