For a start, dont get me wrong, I'm a Dodge fan, just can't afford a Viper now.

I own an SRT4 for the moment and love it, though just not as fast as I'd like it yet hehehe

Now, as you know, all race scenes included, there is much more Honda/Acura fans than anything else out there so... I always get in verbal fights with those stubborn enough to believe that Civics and Integra are the real shitnitzzz... that nothing else can be better and that with half even fourth of the Viper value in cash they can build anything Honda taht will decimate all Vipers.....

Well....they have a point but... I try to explain them why that's not a thing we bother ourselves with when we look at buying such a car as a Viper. That their 11s POS will be stripped bare, will ride as a stiff as a tank to get their 1G on the skid pad, will have no AC, no radio, a loud as heel fartcan exhaust, still be FWD and never be near the sheer plaesure car with attitude like the Viper can be.

So, I'd like to know what were your thoughs when you were shopping for a Viper....why a big-ld-gaz-guzzling-pushrod engine instead of a(quoted from Honda boy wannabee)refined inline turbo 6 (Porsche) or 10krevfree v8 (Ferrari) or anything else more 'uptodate' and 'civilised'....

Just for the record: I do love big ol nasty 8l engines, but need arguments

Because Ferraris cost twice as much and aren't as fast.
Because Porsches look and sound like hopped up Volkswagons.
Because I like a car that requires driver skill and not some paddle-shifting crap.

The Vipers looks alone makes it a dream to own.
Buying something with sheer raw power in stock form make you respect the car a lot more than any other car you've driven before.

The fact is you can take any car and put enough money into it to make it go faster than a Viper, hell, might even be cheaper than outright buying a Viper as well. With the Viper you get the look of the car, incredible power from the get-go, and a car that can handle the skid pad better than the large majority of all productions cars available.

You own an SRT 4 right now, drop a few thousand into that thing and it'll eat up the road no problem. I've been into some very tough races with modded SRT 4's.

Chuck, those are "beauty" marks.
Dreamert, if you have to ask "why" then you just need to get in one and go for a ride.........

For me, growing up in the 80's and hearing the smack talk about how mopar *****...blah,blah,blah, like your k-car, blah,blah....etc. The Viper does just one thing, shuts them up! When someone says, my friends blah, blah, is faster the response is simple "your hair looks nice" and just drive slowly away...
This car is my dream, don't care about others' dreams...
If it is your dream, get one

Because it only guzzles gas when you are having the time of your life :) and it gets 25mpg when you need it to (on the way from and to "having the time of your life").

Ya, speed is one thing but they're still driving home in a Honda... Which one would you or anyone else rather drive home in? :)

i remember the first (and so far only) time i got a ride in a viper. it was only like three months ago. it was a 2000 RT-10 black with alot of mods. my whole family knows how much i like vipers so my uncle knew somebody that had a viper. so one day that guy had a car show ( his third annual car show a big mopar car show with 2 vipers a six pack challenger, rt challenger, charger, and a lot of other cool cars) when i got there he was giving somebody a ride in his viper. when he was done giving him a ride he let the guy get out and he let me have a ride in his viper. it was the funnest time of my life. i think he got it to 100 miles per hour. he did a lot of mods so it was super loud. i had the best time in my life . i cant wait till i get one one day. BTW if there is a mike (i think his name was mike) up in morgan hills that owns a black rt-10 viper thank you for letting me have a ride. :2tu:

next time you see me rolling up 880, just pull up beside me and try to get my attention... I'll try not to over-react and shoot first, ask questions later. :D

I wanted to drive a car that reminded me of my youth tearing up the streets of London in a Triumph...rough and ready.

As I am 50+ and my personal horsepower is declining, I have a need to surround myself with an artificial supply. At least this is what my 6ft tall younger, fitter, stronger girlfriend theorizes.

I enjoy the exclusivity.

I'm sorry... we don't allow Canadians in our Vipers... :D jk

Actually, my gts originally came from Canada. It has daytime running lights. I'm sure you can find a Canadian Viper owner around here that would be more than happy to give you a ride.

Because it is a beast. Loud, rude and crude. Scares people when I start it up and makes them smile at the same time. I like the fact that it still scares me sometimes when I'm all of a sudden slithering at high speed. Love it when it shakes from side to side when I'm sitting at a stop light like a can of paint in a paint shaker. Great curves, visceral, aggressive styling. No electronic baby sitting devices including ABS. Clamshell hood opening up to reveal a pit of ten red snakes. American, American, American. Rare in this day and age! That's about it! :D
