I trying to remove the centre dash so that I can send it off to my painters and I am running into a few problems.

The vertical console is pretty much easy. I removed the 6 screws and the knobs for the air etc.....it should pretty much come off when I remove the centre console.

The problem I am having is removing the hurst short throw shifter knob, the boot and the centre console.

Can someone please tell me how to :

A. Remove the knob on the hurst shifter so that I can remove the boot and
B. How do I get the centre console out???

I tried to do a search but no luck.

Really appreciate your help.
Patrick

Did another search and I got some information on the console.

Now.............does the hurst short shofter knob remove by turning it carefully counter clockwise with a plumbers wrench? I tried to turn it by hand without any success. Its on there pretty tight!!!!

Get yourself a plastic strap wrench from Home Depot that has a rubber strap. Your installer might have installed the locking nut under the knob which really is not needed. Then the console just pulls up straight off the transmission tunnel. The undo the power windows electrical harness. The A/C one is a little more difficult as there are wiring connectors on the back of it. Call me during the week if you need help.
