I have a slow leak from one of my tires which has been traced to the sealing grommet on the tire pressure sensor. I was told by my friendly Dodge parts guy that the grommet is not serviced seperately, and that I have to buy the entire tire pressure sensor.

Has anyone had a similar problem and come up with a replacement grommet without the purchase of the TPS?

thanks

I had a similar problem on wife's '05 Jeep. The problem (after two self repair attempts with tire sealer) was not really the grommet, but that the metal washer under it was not positioned properly when the factory first tightened it and it was not flat anymore. I flattened it out (it is a harder metal than it looks) and used an electrical wiring grommet (cut in half like a bagel) and a little tire goo, and it has been good since.

You can disassemble it and see if the metal washer is flat - if not, dealer should replace under poor workmanship warranty. Otherwise, head to Home Depot and get a couple of $0.05 grommets that fit around the stem. Also get a size that seems too small (since the center section of the grommet has to fit through the hole in the wheel and allow the stem through also.)
