Conventional ring packs usually are high tensile plasma moly and a cast iron scraper.

Then for supercharged applications, I've heard of using the Childs and Albert gapless 2nd ring.

Now TotalSeal has come up with the TotalSeal top ring.

I also know any form of moly top ring can get the moly chunked out from detonation and especially nitrous. Chrome is the same choice.

A lot of information is traditional while some of the latest stuff is hype.

Any suggestions?

Application: v8, 305 in**3, 15 psi Vortech, 500 HP, 7000 rpm

Tom, I'm not sure how good they are for boosted SBC Chevy applications but I personally know of 3 boosted cars that ran Total Seal rings (2 Supras and a Nissan) that were built by 3 different people that had ring problems from the get go. All 3 of these cars then got conventional rings and had no problems. I also talked to a local Mustang owner (8 second car) that had built some Ford small block engines with Total seal rings and had problems.

Good luck with your project, I'll see if I can find more info on the subject.
