When: October 23-24, 2010

Where: Carolina MotorSports Park, Kershaw, SC

Track Time: 2 Hours, 25 minutes each day
Event Details and Rules

Carolina MotorSports Park is a beautiful 2.6 mile track comprised of 14 turns and 4 straights. It is a fun track to drive, and is not especially ******* tires or brakes. Any car within reason may participate, however, convertibles must have a roll bar.

Drivers need only bring a helmet that has a SA 2000 or SA2005 rating (please note, most motorcycle helmets do not meet this classification).

There will be a thorough tech inspection before cars are approved to go on track. We expect drivers to recognize that putting a car on track that has safety issues or mechanical issues not only endangers the driver, but all other drivers on track with them. Therefore, we reserve the right to not allow any car on track that doesn’t pass tech inspection.

The cost for the weekend is $399. There is an additional $15 per car fee paid directly to the track that is good for the entire weekend.

We will run the event using 3 run groups; green group for novice drivers, blue for intermediate drivers with between 3 and 10 track events, and red is for advanced drivers and instructors. Classroom instruction will be provided and is mandatory for green and blue group drivers. In-car instructors are also provided for all green group drivers.

We provide, at a minimum, four 25 minute on-track sessions per day plus a 45 minute session at the end of the day we call “happy hour”. This will be an open session to all drivers.

We will be requiring point by’s for passing in all run groups, however passing zones will be less restrictive in the higher groups. For novice drivers, all passing must be accomplished on 3 of the straights. Passengers will be permitted in the cars of instructors and advanced drivers.

If time permits, we will try to provide a 15 minute session of parade laps immediately after lunch. This is where anyone can drive their car on the track following a pace car with no passing. It is a great way to let someone get a little of the feel for driving on a real race track.

We are recruiting instructors and workers for the weekend. Instructors get to participate in the weekend for no cost, and drive in the red group sessions. Workers who work during the weekend get $100 credit toward future events for each day they work. A worker who satisfactorily works both days at 2 weekend events for Tracks Unlimited, can attend an event for free in the future.

The track provides an Ambulance and paramedics, and a safety vehicle with 2 personnel. We are considering offering camping on site at the track, but need to know who might be interested. It would be an extra charge to us, so there would be a charge to the participants to camp.

We will have overnight security, so participants can feel safe about leaving cars, trailers, etc at the track overnight.

Registration ends Oct 16th and slots are filling up fast.
