This has come up twice in a week so either it's relatively new or I just haven't been paying attention.

I went to a Ziebart care store to get a windshield replaced. They were big into selling some type of system like a wax. They apply it and it supposedly dries to a rock hard finish, super duper like a diamond, almost never to dull or be hurt by rock chips.

Then, a guy I work with buys a new STS and the dealer sells him the same type of thing. Is this a joke?

Funny. This past weekend I met a guy who said that they are selling the same technology for boats (a 60 ft boat is very expensive to wash and wax so people are all over it) They claim after this 'treatment', just a hose will wash off salt, dirt, etc. Oh, and they claim UV protection. I'll believe it when I see it.

I have a black Toyota that I bought 3 years ago and I had it sealed with a Teflon coating called TST. Guaranteed for 5 years to not need waxing and to not have swirl marks. I have to tell you, when I wash it, it never has swirl marks from drying and still shines. But the stone chip thing is another story, I have plenty of them....
