We now have the HorsepowerFreaks Viper running on the AEM Engine Management System. It was a complete plug n play with the exception of our proprietary knock sensor kit.

Here's a simple video of the car idling with the AEM. The Viper starts up perfect with very smooth idle.

We're going to publish more videos once we tune driveability and strap it down to our dynojet. One of goals will be to answer any questions you might have and to describe many of the options and capabilities that you'll have if you use this engine management system.

    Jeff,

You could take it to AEM to have it installed and tuned there, or drive it up here to Portland, OR and have us do it. We also have a vehicle shipper that delivers cars to us from all over the US that is fairly inexpensive for a fully enclosed trailer. Our service dept also flies world-wide for AEM tuning.

I just got a chance to drive my Viper after Sean's AEM tuning work yesterday. All I can say is "unbelievable".

I bought the Viper a few weeks ago so that we could have a test car for the AEM, and when I test drove it I didn't like it much. The power band was rough, idle was rough, throttle response was poor, decel and fuel cut made popping sounds out the back. I remember hearing this in other Vipers and when I asked the prior owner, he said that's how it was when he bought it, and he liked it that way. The only saving grace it had was that it looked incredible, had a reasonable amount of torque (we got 428ft-lbs on this stock one) and handled way better than my 830rwhp Supra. Sean had corrected all of these issues in my AEM equiped Supra, so I was hopeful the AEM would resolve these in the Viper.

After the AEM and driveability tuning the idle was smooth as glass... No more periodic stumble or rocking of the car on idle. Tip in throttle actually spun the tires. Off idle response was improved dramatically, and the most impressive for me was when I let off the gas and coasted down in gear it was as smooth as glass (like a normal car). No more popping, gurgling sounds out the back on decel.

Now that driveability is getting dialed in, the knock sensors are going in today and we're going to tune for peak power later today or tomorrow. We're also going to turn on O2 feedback and set up for better fuel economy.

This car is much nicer to drive. I no longer feel like I'm riding in a go-kart on steroids. It has a much smoother more refined feel to it. For those that are in the Portland area, I'll take anybody for a ride that wants one.

    Take care,
    Chris.
