There has been a great deal of rumor and misinformation circulated about the prospective eligibility to buy a Viper Competition Coupe (VCC) -- and much initial demand. As this is written, Viper Race HQ has 20 qualified applications, all with $20k deposits attached!

That's great news for a program as new as the VCC, but the greater interest out there is still white hot. We wanted to condense and try to clarify the application procedure to help minimize some confusion:

In order to begin the process ...

** Fill out completely the application form. The form is obtained by downloading it from www.vipercompetitioncoupe.com or by calling Viper Race HQ at 1-888-960-3333.

** Though situations are subject to change in the next year, the car is only open to potential owners who will campaign it in the three North American series previously stated, i.e. SCCA World Challenge, Grand-Am Cup and Viper Days. This does not necessarily exclude otherwise qualified Canadian or Mexican applicants.

** Blank spaces should be avoided or filled in “N/A” as applicable! This information is used to match the best, most-qualified racers with available production of VCCs.

** Copies of any racing licenses currently held <should> be included in the package, but initial applications will still be accepted from all who meet the other consideration criteria, principally a deposit in certified funds of $20,000.

** Applicants not currently involved with a racing team (or who may have no racing history yet) should put “N/A” in those spaces, but they should indicate their racing plans if selected to buy the car. Dodge’s officially stated desire is that VCCs be sold to high-quality racers <who will race the car>. That means applicants without racing qualifications or racing history may not be selected to buy the VCC.

** In our eyes, PVO's and Dodge's, you are not held in any lower regard whatsoever if your racing series is "only" Viper Days. Dodge corporately (and Jim Julow personally) have specific intent to support this seminal enthusiast racing series with a portion of VCC production, including in the first year. [Take a bow, Skip!]

** Deposits of $20,000 in certified funds must be included with the completed application and sent to Viper Race HQ at the address on the form. Forms not accompanied by such deposit will not be considered serious applications.

** Any otherwise qualified applicant not selected to buy a first-year car will be offered the deposit back immediately; alternatively, the applicant may be offered a race car in the second-year's production, in which case the deposit would be retained.

** APPLICATIONS ARE NOT ORDERS. Qualified applications are taken on a first come-first served basis, but this doesn't suggest build sequence or priority of any sort. By a deadline yet to be determined (but next year in any case), all qualified applications with full deposits will be reviewed by Dodge, PVO and Viper Race HQ. Invitations to purchase a VCC will be issued to applicants based on a combined assessment of who is best able to successfully campaign the car. VCC build dates will not be assigned until the successful applicant pays the balance due on the VCC in full. Anyone not paying the balance due before a TBD deadline will forfeit the reservation.

Bottom line: Anyone willing to part with $20,000 and a filled-out form can apply to buy the car. But due to small production and high demand, I believe it’s unlikely that non-racers will be invited to buy this very low volume, non-streetable race car unless all racing buyers are taken care of.

At least, that's what we believe today! ;-)
Hope this helps.

Go Navy!
best~

Dan, It's good to see that this clarification has come through. I hope that it gets a few more people to step up to the plate and ensure that the first year of production sells out. I have spoken to some people who have not gone further because of the wording on the application.

If there is a prospective buyer who does not currently hold a license currently can they apply with a letter of intent to obtain a license? Lets say a Viper Days license, before taking delivery of the car? The Viper days license would probably be the easiest to obtain on short notice.

If you read the clarification above it seems to be clear. Get your check and application in ASAP.

Great info, DCR, and from what we have all heard a Comp. Coupe will be at the Viper Days Finals this weekend at Hallett Motorsports Park? - ( Near Tulsa, Oklahoma ). Tell Fernandez to bring a receipt book , because I predict a large number of sales at the event once we see the beast in the flesh.

Bill, remember to bring a camera as you will undoubtedly be photographing it a lot. If you havn't seen it in the flesh as of yet, you will be very impressed.

You're correct about the Viper Competition Coupe being skedded for Viper Days this weekend. John Fernandez also is scheduled to be there with a buncha VCC "Hero Cards" featuring the spex and info known 2day.

The VCC is out in Vegas at SEMA this week, in case any of you have access to the show.

FYi & review.

20 qualified apps already? Outstanding! Looks like DC has another Viper hit on it's hands with 80% of the first year's scheduled production tenatively spoken for with not so much as one track event under it's belt yet. Money talks and those checks are singing the enthusiast's confidence in Team Viper and the Competition Coupe. Well done.

Pemberton says he's only hijacking the copier at work but if the CC ain't still on the stand at the end of Viper Days I'd check his trailer first before he gets out the gates...

Not to worry about Bill P heisting the CC as the team installed a LoJack system before it left the snakes lair.
