David Gray and Keith Colvin shared a car on their very first trip to Cabaniss NAS, while John Moore and I renewed old friendships and rivalries with the folks from Corpus Christi. The PCA hosted a fabulous buffet dinner at one of their members' beautiful homes on the waterfront of Corpus Christi Bay. We watched the last few hours of the Petit LeMans on multiple TVs.

When the dust and tire smoke finally dissipated, the Snakes came away with the top 3 spots in eXhibition Closed wheel - 5 (XC-5). Cabaniss is such a sprawling and featureless course that it's easy for a first-timer to get lost on track. Thats what happened to David during time trials, as he smoked a front tire nearly down to the cords at over 110 mph thru the Turn 6 sweeper.

By definition, any non-Porsche is allowed to run in one of the "Exhibition" classes. XO is for open wheel formula cars - mostly FF and FC. I don't know how other PCA regions class non-P cars. In my '93 Viper, I started in XC-2 and all there were was 2 classes. There were always 20-30 other car owners that felt (rightly so) that there should be more classes and opportunities for awards.

PCA assigns any Production car to a "P" class. Modified Porsches get an "M" (at least that's how I *think* their classes are set up) We've had 993 and 996 TT's compete at some of these events. I think they run in P8. They're always slow because they're driven by polishers wearing windbreakers.
