I have a 96 GTS, and my wheels have a slight haze to them, i was wondering if there is something i can buy over the counter to make them shine like new again, or atleast look a little better.

If the clearcoat is hazed you may have to have it stripped off and recoated. Try a good grade of glass cleaner and a soft cotton cloth. Anything stronger will damage the clearcoat worse.

On the other hand, the clearcoat may already be off your wheels. In that case a good aluminum wheel polish from your auto parts store should work fine.

It's the polish. 96 had a light polish (looks cloudy), 97 a bit better and 98 had a high polish finish. If you want your 96 rims shiner you will have to take some somewhere like Purner www.CCWheel.com and have them high polished.

Or you could get them chromed - yuck.

Chuck is absolutely correct! Here's a tidbit that every concourse judge should take into consideration:

The '96 wheels SHOULD have a haze to them .... the real highly polished ones didn't happen until '98!

I'd just enjoy the stock '96 rims the way they are!
