We need a bone stock gen1/2, 1/4 mile list. I can help

This is a list i made 1-2 years ago for the corvette forum when i had a c5...It took around 6 months but you can see the data is nice to have.

It works pretty simply. I have one thread were you tell me what you ran 100% bone stock down to the tires and air filters...

Then on another thread i will input your data on a list...This thread will EVENTUALLY become much larger than the current record keeper wich has all of 5 people's stock times..And perhaps become a sticky.

This will be much better than having to explain to every newbie how a gen 2 Viper can run 11.5 at 122 through 12.8 at 114 depending on their driving.

The list will be for gen1 and gen 2 Vipers. The SRT10 guys can find their own solution. I dont have enough time on my hand to create list for all three variants.

So this is how are list will end up looking. Very simple but effective at letting the world know what the snake can do the way it slithered from the factory....

EXAMPLE.....

(screen name) JOHN DOE....Bone stock 1999 GTS ACR...11.9 at 119....

Sorry. car must be factory origional other than different brand ( non DR) street tires.

Later on a modded list will be added as well but for now i will only be accepting Et's and mph's from 100% stock vehicles.

TTT...I think it's important that we get a good list going. I own a gen2 and i dont even know what they really run...

But if I wanted to see what an auto C5 with 2.73 gears ran i could just go to the above list and see that on average they run 13.5 at 103...

While the average mn6 C6 runs 13.2 at 108..

Problem is I dont give a crap about the C5's...

I want a list for gen 1 and gen 2 Vipers.

I think your problem is going to be bone stock gen1 and gen2. Not too many of those around anymore. ALso, not many vipers compared to vettes and even less that actually go to the track. I have a 99 gts not stock and a 04 srt10 stock but the gen3 time and mph is not going to help you. Maybe take a look at drag times.com, not sure if they have a stock section but they do have a viper section.

Guys this is the same thing the vette guys said a few years ago..

tHAT THEIR WERE NO STOCK C5'S AND THE LIST WAS GONNA BE SHORT. 6 months later their was a list of 50 people that had times from when they were bone stock..

It dosent take much. I have read of plenty of people on this forum running bone stock...And eventually they will see this thread. It's not gonna take much at all to beat the reord page that has like 5 1/4 mile times.

Sorry Adam, this list will not include 1/8 mile times. But by all means go have a good time.

As far as the record keeper 1/4 mile list goes..Theirs like 5 people on it. Weve got nearly as many people on this list after only a few days as that one has had in years.

A noble effort (?), but I wouldn't trust most reports of magical stock ETs..

I talked to a guy yrs ago running a Viper in some supposed bone stock class thing. He'd gutted the cats and done a lot of other hidden work.

So along with completely bogus claims, there's always those 'forgetting' that little mod they made.

How many magazines said a F body was a 13.6-13.9 car? Or a 03 Cobra was a 13.0-13.3 car?


Just about every other fast american car out their has a decent bone stock list going. why not us?????

I frankly get tired of reading some 03 cobras or C5Z06's lame story of how a gen 2 Viper was only running 12.7 at 111 mph and that are cars are over rated...


We get a nice list of 20 gen 1 guys ranging 12.1-13.0...And like wise a nice list of 20 gen 2 guys ranging 11.5-12.6...And these vette/cobra guys wont have a leg to stand on any more...

The 03cobra guys have a guy who ran a 12.4 bone stock. While the c5Z06 guys have a driver who suppossedly hit an 11.7 stock...


The 03 Cobra guys like to claim that they can run dead even with a gen 1 Viper while the C5Z06 guys like to claim they can run dead even with a gen 2 Viper...

But I have read of one guy running an 11.3 at 122 mph on the record keeper. But was he stock down to the tire? As well I have also read of an 11.5 done bone stock and many 11.7 passes by people on this forum....These 11.3-11.7 gen 2 drivers are all it would take on a list to shut up the C5Z06 guys peramentally...

While I recently read of a gen 1 owner running a 12.2 bone stock. His time on a list would be all it takes to shut up the 03 Cobra guys...

I KNOW SOME OF YOU COULDNT CARE LESS ABOUT STOCK PERFORMANCE. AND IF YOU DONT THEN JUST LEAVE THE THREAD ALONE..

Well, to answer your question: a modded list would show potential of modifications to the car and would allow other to decide what might be right for them based on others experience.

And, if you care so much, go to a track and RUN YOUR CAR. I guess I don't understand what your so worried about? Are you a desktop racer and want to post your "list" on other forums? Also, there are very few BONE STOCK Gen II Vipers around. Most do at least tubes/filters and some sort of exhaust.

If you care so much about Vette/Cobra guys - then after you run them at the track, let us know how you did...

Now, since no one else seems to want to keep this thread alive and you keep posting over and over - just let it die...

It's just a tricky proposition.
Most people who keep their Viper bone stock don't drag race, and most anyone who is interested in performance is going to very quickly modify their car from stock. Things like adding smooth tubes and high flow air filter and high flow cats are a no-brainer as there is no downside from a warranty or reliability side, and the mods are cheap.

And now GenI/II Vipers are between 4 and 14 years old, so you would have to find one untouched and taken it to the track before you modded it, or bought it used from someone who didn't touch the car.

Plus as opposed to the Corvette list, there aren't the same 400,000 cars out there over the last 14 years, with 200,000 left untouched. It's more like 15,000 Vipers with maybe 5,000 stock and perhaps 500 of those ever drag raced.

Plus even though it's nice to have a listing of real drag racing times, different people have different perceptions of what constitutes "stock". And an extended discussion has some people admitting that they consider DOT drag radials stock, and basic intake and exhaust mods "stock", other variables include drag racer prep (gutting the car, race gas, lowering tire pressure, icing the intake, speed shifting, and special sticky track preparation) as well as normal variables such as altitude, mileage, fuel quality, and importantly driver's skill.

Plus the moment that you post some 11.7@121MPH time acquired by some expert drag racer with 200 runs under his belt, you are less likely to have some first time, bone stock, driver post his 12.9@113MPH time afterwards.

Completely stock gen 3 convertible 11.83 @119.5 mph.


It is interesting that I ran the same mph as the guy above in the 1/8 and 1/4 but his 60' time is just incredible. In another run I actually ran a faster 1/8 95.3 and 120.5 in the 1/4 but those run flats are garbage for traction.
