Yeah, me too, man. I lost my owner designation and avatar too. I was unable to get it back and gave up on trying to get anything done about it... :brick:

Maybe there is a minimum number of miles you have to drive the Viper annually to keep the designation?

Well, I don't recall seeing any notes to the website folks but no problem! ;) Here is what we have so far:

MAVPR - VIN was verified and now you are listed as a Viper Owner. Become a VCA Member to REALLY see some benefits!

Flash Gordon - VIN was verified and now you are listed as a Viper Owner. No VCA Member number listed in your profile, so no way to verify your membership - mind readers we ain't. Don't "give up trying", just put your VCA member number in your private profile and we will take care of it.

98viperGTS - While the VIN in your profile doesn't match up with either the year or the model of the Viper in your ID, we went ahead and listed you as a Viper Owner. Become a VCA Member to REALLY see some benefits!

sun diego - Changed your designation to "SoCal VCA Member" - just because we like you. :D

newelly - Your VIN checked out fine but your VCA Member number is expired. Call 800-998-1110 and renew over the phone. We can have you updated here within a week (or just ask them to send an e-mail confirmation to Chris and we will update you within minutes).

Sorry guys (and/or gals!), but the system is NOT automated. We have to manually check every VIN or VCA membership number before we can change the titles. We do it when new users register on the site but previously registered users that were moved to this new software may have lost their "designation". All you need to do is send me (Y2K5SRT) or Lee (Lee00blacksilverGTS) a PM and we will get you verified accordingly. And if you are a Viper Owner and on the fence about VCA membership, don't be: Besides getting a VIPER magazine subscription, VCA Notes, invitations to all VCA events, $1,000,000 worth of liability insurance at those same Viper events, eligibility for all VCA raffles, etc., here is what you get on this very website:

VCA Member (paid members)
  • Posting privileges in all general Viper Forums
  • Posting & viewing privileges in VCA Members forum
  • Posting privileges in VCA Regional forums
  • Posting privileges in VCA Viper Events and Gatherings forum
  • Ability to upload and display personal avatar (Vipers only please)
  • Ability to write and use personal signature for all posts
  • Gallery privileges up to 500 MB of uploads
  • Up to 5000 Private Messages allowed
  • FREE Classified ad posting
  • Access to exclusive SRT merchandise in VCA Members forum
  • Future exclusives such as VCA private auctions, online renewals, and much more!
As a Viper owner your benefits are no more than an "Enthusiast" - not bad, but not NEARLY as much as a VCA Member:

Viper Owner (unpaid guests)
  • Posting privileges in general Viper forums only
  • Unable to view or post in VCA Member forum
  • Unable to post in the VCA Regional forums
  • Unable to post in VCA Viper Events and Gatherings forum
  • Unable to have an avatar
  • Unable to post a signature
  • Gallery privileges up to 3 MB of uploads
  • Up to 100 Private Messages allowed
  • Classified ad posting of $30 per ad
As a Viper owner you are eligible to join the VCA with a VERIFIABLE Dodge Viper VIN. If you wish to join the VCA simply call VCA headquarters at 800-998-1110 with your credit card and VIN in hand. Just $100 for renewals and only $80 (second quarter promotion) for new members. As demonstrated above, if you are currently listed as an Enthusiast and want your status upgraded to Viper Owner, drop a PM to either Lee (Lee00blacksilverGTS) or Chris (Y2K5SRT) with your Viper VIN and we will get you set up as quickly as possible. Just remember that if you really want to get the very most from this site, VCA Membership is the King of the Hill - take your Viper ownership to the next level!

Thanks for visiting,

Chris

I thought it was because David was part of my "gang"
Well, there was that too. And in the spirit of good sportsmanship and all you have done for Viper owners in the past, your title has been upgraded too. Now go get another Viper and spiff for the VCA membership, ya cheapskate! :D

I got demoted a few months ago as well. I signed up and paid for a VCA membership a couple of weeks ago but haven't received anything in the mail yet.

Y2K5SRT,
I guess just owning a Viper anymore doesn't really give you much on this board.

By the way the Viper registry build info list's the last retail vin# for a 99GTS is XV503946,
I must have purchased a stolen one, my vin# for my 99GTS is XV503979.

just my .02

98viperGTS is correct, the VIN's are not produced in sequence. Also note that the VCA doesn't own or run the Viper registry, so we can't account for any possible discrepancies (although it has always seemed very accurate to me).

Interesting commentary. You seem to have participated in your fair share of posts and hopefully picked up some pointers along the way. Free of charge, of course. What you haven't done is volunteer any of your time to help support the club that runs the site, nor offered a single penny to help keep it running. Last year the site cost over $20,000 to maintain, host, and modify. Given the upgrades so far in 2007, it will cost even more this year. And that does not include the thousands of hours donated by our site administration, moderators, etc. They don't get a single penny for that work.

So if we happen to share the same last name, does that mean you can come into my house anytime you like, eat our food, watch TV, and then leave when you feel like it? Or do you think that maybe, just maybe, if you offered to clean the dishes or pay for a meal it would a little more acceptable? There are thousands of Viper owners that help support the club and this site simply by being members. And there are thousands of others that expect the exact same rights and privileges but won't even cough up a measly $100 to help support it. So which group should we favor?

It's funny, because many of the other popular car forums besides this one charge for "premium" memberships - otherwise you can't upload a SINGLE picture, have more than 50 private messages, etc. Cost? Usually around $30 a year. And many of those same sites are inundated with ads on every post, hypertext links in the posts themselves (obnoxious), and all kinds of other clutter. And they don't need to send a single magazine or newsletter, host an event, help interface with the manufacturer, or support an actual car club with thousands of active members. They just take your money and allow you picture hosting privileges and more private messages. Oh boy.

Mind you, VCA membership nor a penny of contribution is required to participate here. You can post almost anywhere and **** up all the great information you like without lifting a finger or dropping a nickel to do so. But let's assume the site offers a value to you as a Viper owner. Then add all the other VCA membership stuff that is offered - VIPER magazine subscription, $1,000,000 liability policy at VCA events, gifts, membership cards, newsletters, regional events, vendor discounts, exclusive raffles, etc., etc. Why is paying for it that difficult? As a Viper owner do you get everything (or anything) else for free? There are hundreds of thousands of people that would LOVE to be in your position and be a Viper owner - and would happily support the club that brings them all together.

Whew! Off of my soapbox. The bottom line is that many, many people sacrifice a HUGE amount of time to make this site what it is. All but the programmers and server host do it for absolutely nothing in return. Rest assured that the $100 is a lot easier! ;)

And one last note to those loyal vendors like JonB that tirelessly support the club as well through sponsorships, donations, and member discounts: Thanks a ton!

I am a VCA Member and Viper Owner in SoCal, or at least I seem to be I'm still getting the magazine

I know how time consuming it is to run a popular website and appreciate all the hard work. Thanks again.
