Take a good look under the viper hood... crossmembers in the way... reverse driven head unit [paxton]... returnless fuel system needs to be converted...

There are a ton of little things. And even then, do a search on the DIY Paxton on the forums... even THAT doesn't work that well as a DIY...

I trust my car to be worked on by 5 people. DLM is one of them, and I'm one of the others. That leaves 3...

LoL,

What supercharger system did you see out there for 1k? For what car?

The cheapest kits out there are for mustangs, and you still pay 4-5k for a base kit.

Go to ebay and go to superchargers they range from $200 to $3000 mostly in the $1000 range.............

$1000 for a complete system is unrealistic. I paid $2500 for a Paxton blower kit for my '94 F150 and the kit was minimimal (bracket, blower, crank pulley, and fuel pressure regulator).

Volume pricing brings the costs of most kits down. The cost for a DIY kit for the Viper will always be high due to low volume.

already been said; get what you pay for. and 8k isnt bad for what youre getting; especially considering what youre putting it on.

Just finishing up my Roe S/C. I also had a Vortec on Mustang (cost about $3500). I can tell you from experience that the 2 set-ups are totally different. All these S/C for the Viper are specially made and it will amaze you how much planning goes into making a unit that would fit in such a tight space.

I guess another way of looking at it is, supply and demand. Simple economics. Not too many Vipers out there, takes time and lots of money to develope. To make a profit, need to sell at higher price.

I asked the same question you did, until we had the S/C put on and we started the car yesterday. Good grace man...it is worth every penny just hearing the car roar.

Peace.
