Wierd Problem..... Let\'s see who gets it right.

Well, she's on her way to the dealer. Right now here are the problems:

1) Reverse was getting hard to get into for 2 weeks (When hot) until yesterday when all gears were difficult (hot or cold).
2) If you press the clutch all the way down and jam it into 1st (yep, not easy to do) keeping the clutch all the way down as you do it and in gear, the car will lurch forward slowly.
3) Can't get into ANY gear easy.
4) This problem happened while the clutch engaged 1" from the floor, not high towards the steering wheel.
5) No buring clutch smell prior to this.
6) Vehicle doesn't leak a drop of fluid.

Take your guess and I'll post the outcome when she comes back.

We had some problems with bad slave cylinders. The clutch wasnt releasing even after we installed a new RPS clutch. Once we replaced the slave cylinder, everything was fine.

SteveB: What year is your SRT? Would be useful to know if this was an 03 year problem.

Master cylinder or Slave cylinder. Sounds like the clutch is not releasing from the flywheel. Could be a pressure plate also.

No doubt in my mind POSD! I had a very similar problem with my '03 with only 4k miles on it. Welcome to the world of dodge (the warranty).

Likely improper torque and subsequent loosening of the bolts that attach the pressure plate to the flywheel. This warps the pressure plate "fingers" and creates the symptons you describe. I've had this TWICE . Tell your tech to loctite these bolts or you will have the same problem again. Definitely put in the LUK replacement clutch kit. Don't go with the OE unit. Though it too is made by LUK, it seems to be made to a different spec. J

Good luck,

Dan

Any of the above, but not all of the above. It could be the hydro system, or the clutch it's self. Bolt issues are common.

Your not alone with this problem.
