i just got a 98 dash to replace the cracked one for my 96. the window switches are different and my harness does not match up. i'm trying to find out the pin-outs of the new switch so i can wire it in. any help would be greatly appreciated.

i started messing with the switch with a volt meter and figured it out. i'll post for future reference if anyone wants to swap to the textured dash from the really cheap looking one from a 96-97. ports 1 and 4 are connected so either one can have a positive or negative but not both. 2 and 3 are both going to be the opposite of 1 or 4. for instance if 1 is positve, then 2 and 3 will be negative, or vice versa. pins 5 and 8 are the wires to the window motor. if the motor moves the wrong way, swap these. 6 and 7 are the power and ground for the LED in the switches. the LED is green but if you want a different color there, i'm sure most electronic specialty stores would carry LEDS and maybe even solder a new color in for a few bucks. if you wire in the LED, make sure you tie into the gauge lights so it's not always on.
